Helsinki looks beautiful!
And the lovely Mette of Metscan has invited us to coffee and chat at
Cafe Aalto, Helsinki, on Wednesday.
This virtual date is an occasion not to be missed.
I for one must be there - I do, after all, sing in the Alto line in my Choir for Ladies of a Certain Age!
Mette's only condition is that we post about what we plan to wear.
Well, I thought if I was quick I could run up a new dress in this chartreuse ponti knit and try Vogue Pattern V8786.
But then, I figured that would be too rushed, it is too cold and wet,
and I am too lazy.
Let's just go with the old fave black-dress-for-all-occasions:
And because I hail from the Sunshine State of Queensland,
where we like a bit of colour,
I will add my vintage fuchsia pink blazer...
and favourite scarf ..
and because I like to promote local designers,
add a couple of Red Phoenix Emporium necklaces.
The Faux Fuchsia Leo with Match My Missoni.
And pearl and sparkle studs.
Black clutch and comfortable new Ziera shoes,
for prowling the streets of Helsinki and taking in the sights!
Thanks Mette, I'll virtually see you there.
What is on the menu?
Is there a special Finnish delicacy we can taste?
xx
I love your choices, especially that gorgeous blazer and shoes! As usual I have nothing to wear - see you there!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sulky! All eyes were on your Sulky necklace, of course ... outshone us all you slinky cat!
DeleteI really like your choices, but don't let Hilary nick your necklace on the flight home. I hear she can be quite a magpie!
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope you're going to make that dress at some point. That ponte shade is so attractive - I only every see black and brown in the fabric shops here! xxx
Watched Hilary all the way - thanks for the tip off. I could see she was out to do a necklace snatch!
DeleteYes, will try to make the dress, asap! xxx
I like your clothes very much. The shoes are truly comfortable then? Good to know!
ReplyDeleteComfortable shoes are essential for long lunches in exotic ports!
DeleteLove your ensemble...how fun! My sister lives in Queensland and I love visiting.
ReplyDeleteHi I see you live in the US, where we have enjoyed many fine holiday trips. Glad you like Queensland - and my fantasy lunch outfit!
DeleteNice choices! I envy your talent to whip up something nice to wear. Maybe next time Mette invites you can make up the fabric you show.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sanda and good idea; I'll get onto it for next time! Loved your blog post on the Helsinki lunch..
DeleteLike the shape of your jacket, and the accessories....what a stylish group of women.Ida
ReplyDeleteThank you Ida, and love your yellow rose. I hope stylishness is catching - there were some very stylish women at the Helsinki lunch!
DeleteOhlalaa, how stylish you are. Hopefully none of the doggies nibbled those gorgeous shoes, as they look so tempting..
ReplyDeleteNow, please fill me with the conversation you had with Hillary - just " dying " to hear it all.
You are so clever to know how to sew ; it must be wonderful to look at a pattern and just know you're able to make that !xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Silver Bunny - unfortunately not all my efforts turn out (there is a basket under the sewing table for rejects!). I have learnt what works for me and have sewn all my life, ever since Mum put a needle in my hand around the age of five. I find it very relaxing and creative. xx
