THE COTTAGE GARDEN

Hi there,
The other day my Dad turned 92.  Like all our family, he loves birds,
so I made him a blue cockatoo cushion, with fabric from Fabric Traders.

Just the extra touch needed to brighten up his room at the Country View Retirement facility.
Dad had a great day, and loved all his presents, and of course, the cake!

Our grandson Little Aussie was there too.
Later he became Mr Box Head, and rode his Big Red Steed, er, vacuum cleaner ...

We went to visit a perennial cottage garden, open under the Open Gardens Australia Scheme.

I came home with lots of ideas ...

Everything looked so healthy, well mulched, and not too bothered by our lack of rain.

We finished the day with tea on the verandah.
Delightful ...

Have a great week .. xxx

    1. Cottage is my favourite idea of a garden too Sulky. I bought a few plants at the open garden, so hoping to improve the Garden of Neglect we now have!

    1. Dad would love greetings from Portugal, but I don't know how I could explain blogging to him! Scones are the best - not too sweet, but satisfying.

  5. Wishing your dad a very happy birthday. All your pictures are so pretty. The garden doesn't seem deprived of rain at all! Your scones (or biscuits as we call them) look mouthwatering good! Have a good week, Patricia.

    1. Thanks Sanda, I don't think I explained it very well - the photos are all of the display garden we visited. Our garden has a lot of catching up to do! Hurray for scones/biscuits! Happy Monday Sanda.

  6. The pillow would brighten any room. Blue and white happens to be one of my favorite color combo's. The garden is similar to gardens I see here, we go through drought periods too.

    1. Blue and white is always a winner! Yes, drought is one of those things a gardener has to work around, wherever we live.

    1. Hi Beryl, For a 3 year old, our grandson has quite an advanced sense of humour! He was laughing away inside that box on his head.

    1. And there are more birthdays to come in the next few weeks! My sister-in-law made Dad's cake, which had an excellent frosting involving marmalade - YUM! So special your name relates to birds .. Jealous :)
