WHAT IS GOING ON WITH BLOGGER?

Hello, is anybody out there?

I have been unable to access my Reading List on Blogger for several days.

Something has happened, I cannot find and check in on your blogs.

Looking under 'Help' I find a few others with the same problem, but no answers provided.

So this is a little test blog, just to see if it still works.

Is this the end of the Red Cardinal blog?

It feels weird operating in a vacuum....

We are in lockdown again, and this time the dreaded Delta variant is in our local area.  A list of sites visited by unknowing victims reveals many of my usual haunts:  Supermarket, Petrol Station, K Mart, Country Road....

I will have to shop online for food for a while.

So let's just have a look around the garden:

Can you see the little blue birdie?

He is a Superb Fairy Wren, also called the Blue Wren.

I spotted him frolicking in the garden early one morning with his two little brown hen wives fluttering about.  These tiny birds like to hide and nest in low shrubs or bushes where they are safe from predators.  It has been a few years since they visited, and they are a delight to watch.  And quite difficult to photograph: they are very quick and easily startled.  I stood very still for quite some time, turned off the sound on my phone to prevent a 'click' then slowly followed them until I got a few shots.

While we are locked down and avoiding company for a while, after a very long and difficult year, our daughter and her family in Canada have been able to take a little Summer holiday.  Things really have improved over there - as more and more people are immunized.

Guess where they went?  Niagara Falls - like all children, the boys loved their visit.

How interesting to see the Falls at night.

I am keeping busy catching up with my photo albums of and for our Twin grandsons.  Lord knows when we will see them again, but Facetime meetings are a real treat.  The little ones are standing up and trying to walk.  Their first birthday is still over a month away.  Such talent...

I hope this post reaches someone!

There is a cryptic message from Blogger about changes in Readers' access to email alerts about blog posts.  It is as clear as mud to me.  Help!

Keep well and stay safe.

  2. Patricia, this same thing happened to my blog friend, Jeanie. She's on my side if you want to ask her, The Marmelade Gypsy. What a pretty Blue Wren. I don't see them much here. Your daughter's visit to the Niagara Falls sounds wonderful. Those Falls are incredible! Wow, look at them at night, so beautiful. And that rose from your garden is so pretty. It should be on a post card.

I hope you figure out the Reader part of Blogger, Patricia. Sometimes it's just so frustrating. One time I spent four hours on my Header, and went through another site and it was easier for me. : )

    Have a pleasant Sunday.

    1. Ah, I will look for the Marmelade Gypsy, thank you. It seems to be that Blogger have upset a lot of people, again! Today I will try rebuilding.

  3. You have arrived here too Patricia, but I do not know what the problem is, so I am unable to help. Sometimes these things happen and then they just as quickly go away - fingers crossed that happens to you.
We have a lovely little Wren here too, they are one of my favourite birds, but yours is really extra special dressed in such a wonderful electric blue.

    1. Fingers crossed indeed, thank you Rosemary. Blogger is a strange beast. I have always been fond of the little wren; my father introduced me to them as a child. He had a jig-saw and cut out and painted various animal shapes, including a sweet wren. Simple times :)

  4. Beautiful bird!
Sorry I can't help with your missing reader list. I write down the blogs I follow and read. If all else fails, build your list again by reading comments.

    1. What a great suggestion, and as I rebuild I will write them down too. As my list was very long, some will probably disappear because I don't remember their blog names. Reading comments it is :)

  5. I can't help with your reading list. I use a Feedly reader for my blogs, but I went into my blogger account and tried to access the old list there that I used to use - to no avail. So it's clearly a blogger problem.
The blue wren is a beautiful bird and lucky you to get photos. Niagara Falls is amazing and it's good to be able to get out and do things again, especially with children.
    Have a good day.

    1. Yes, something changed on 1st August. They are funny, they have a Help page and never give us any help. I hope they are reading the complaints at least. We saw Niagara Falls in 1999 and it was a memorable experience. Such power in that rushing water. I am glad the boys finally got to see them.

  6. I have your blog in my sidebar, Patricia, so I always see your updates when I log in to my blog. I must confess I rarely use the Reader, so wouldn't know if it was working or not as a rule, but I'll check. I'm so sorry to hear you're in lockdown again. It keeps coming back, doesn't it? Maybe one day we'll be able to live life normally again!

    1. So pleased you popped in Val. I will smarten up my own side bar reading list (I have been a remiss housekeeper), because it is now my only passport to the blog world. And I will start writing them in a book too. Hoping Blogger fixes things, but they rarely do. Settling into lockdown today, just did the online grocery order. I could go to the shop faster!

  7. It is a new issue! I cannot read from the reading list at all! Your post came through just fine here which is great news.
    Take care

    1. Oh dear, that is the same thing. What are they doing??? So pleased my post came through, and let us hope they don't mess with that. I will start working my way through the contacts I can reach but as I have been following about 100 blogs I will never find them all! Be safe over there and take care.

  8. All good here. I've just done an online order for Organic fruit, vegies etc. Bit more expensive than the regular supermarket but a treat during lockdown. They do delivery on Saturdays in my area so something to look forward to on a lockdown day.

    1. Back to the 2020 ways for us. Online order done, started on the next one. Cancelled 6-7 appointments for the week. Will I miss out on the offer of a short holiday prize when I book into the dentist for a new crown? These are the decisions we must consider :) Cheers.

  10. I received your blog via email but I think they are not going to email anymore. I have started to save the blogs I follow to my Bookmarks and/or my Favourites so I can go to them anytime I want to read them. So far it has worked! I would really miss your blog so hope you can continue it.

    1. I know, it is sad they will no longer email. It really showed me how much I love the world of bloggers when I did not think I could see them any more! Now I am starting to list them in a notebook, as well as putting more on the sidebar. Thank you for your kind comment.

  11. Oh, dear! The Delta variant is rising here in America too, and if the people who resist the vaccine don't change their minds soon, we may never get past COVID.

Your garden is a lovely treat, Trish! Very beautiful this time of the year. The Superb Fairy Wren is my favorite color, blue! What a pretty sapphire he is.

    1. Hi Debra, Glad you enjoyed the flowers. It will be our absolute haven for a few weeks, as I do not intend to leave our home until I get vaccinated on the 24th August. A long wait, but it is necessary due to the slow roll out in Australia. Meantime, Delta is going nuts in our local area - a bit scary as they are listing many locations I have visited in the past few days.

  12. Let me add, I always see in my sidebar if blogs I follow have new posts, but sometimes the photos or icons disappear on them, leaving only a title, and I don't know why. Another hassle with Blogger is I can't comment on other's people's blogs using a Safari browser because after Google retired Google Plus, it no longer recognizes me as signed it. I must log onto Chrome instead, alas, an extra step. Also inserting photos at times messes up format, and often I have to fiddle with photo placement to be in the right place surrounded by a paragraph of words. If I can't fix it to proper, I've had to omit photos. So I don't know what's going on with Blogger either. I have wondered if Blogger is becoming another Instagram — not a platform for writers but photo bloggers.

    1. It does my head in how tricky it is to keep blogging and seeing each other. I know the problem is based in Blogger changing the emailing of posts, but cannot understand why this means they cannot show my reading list on the dashboard. Well, it has forced me to look at my sidebar, remove some old blogs, and insert newer ones by catching them in Comments. And I am writing them down in a notebook because if all fails, I have their names and can start again. Phew! You may well be right, Instagram has become a fashion, and is not nearly so thoughtful as a written blog.

  13. I hope your blogger situation is resolved dear Trish! So sorry to hear about the variant and continued lockdown. Ugh!! Prayers it improves soon!! Loved the Niagara Falls pics and we went several years ago and visited from the Canada side too. So beautiful! Blessings. xo
