BRISBANE 2032

 Greetings.
Just popping in to say that this evening it was announced by the International Olympic Committee:
Brisbane will host the Olympic Games in 2032!

Fireworks just over an hour ago at our Southbank Parklands...

What an honour for our beautiful sub-tropical city.
Brisbane will be proud indeed to host the Games.

Story Bridge, Brisbane River

No, we are not out there celebrating with the crowds.
It is the coldest night of the year tonight....

Expecting a 1 degree minimum on Thursday...

Which is cold for most of us, as central heating is unusual in Brisbane.
But we sure do love our electric blanket....

Keep warm

  1. Congratulations, Trish! How exciting to host the Olympics! I'll get to see more of your beautiful home as the networks do its background stories.

I am such a lover of summer, I'm sorry to hear the cold has reached you. :( How weird is it I seconds ago blogged about a facial oil people are adding to their moisturizers to hydrate their skin, and I thought as I wrote it that here on the western hemisphere my topic was out of season, and yet I thought people love it so much I had to write about it. Luckily blogging brings to globe together and reminds us it's always cold, dry and winter somewhere in our world. Had I found the right job, I could have spend 6 months on each hemisphere, summer followed by another summer. :)

    1. Thank you Debra, yes, I had not thought of that, and the world will see more of Brisbane in the years to come.
We are hydrating like mad here, the winds from the West are very drying indeed. I have always thought I'd like to spend a few months of the year in another hemisphere - but these days, I am grateful to go anywhere!

  2. Congratulations, that will be great that your home area will host the Olympic games in 2932. I didn't realize they plan that far ahead. It's so strange you talking about the coldest night of the year where you live, when here in California and many other states we are having heat waves. The fireworks are beautiful. Love that turquoise colored one.

Have a splendid rest of July, Patricia. : )

    1. They do plan far ahead, because infrastructure has to be built. I hope our city plans well - it can lead to cost overruns. Oh you are having heatwaves, that is bad. I prefer the cold to that.

    1. You could come over for the Olympics Carrie. We love our fireworks over the river; they will probably have a lot when the actual Olympics come. So cold here today, I actually am wearing a sweater over long sleeves 🤭

  4. Congratulations to Brisbane! When Vancouver hosted in 2010 it was a huge affair, with lots of construction preceding the event. And it was a great boost to tourism. Stay warm - 1 degree is chilly when you don't have central heating.

  5. Thank you Lorrie, I remember when you had the Olympics in Vancouver. In 2010 we made our first visit there en route to see a new grandson in Ottawa. We bought a soft toy Olympic mascot for the baby - but I can’t remember what it was 😍

  6. It’s very exciting. I did read some bright spark suggested it’s probably not a good idea to work out how old you’ll be which I thought funny because it’s exactly what I’d done!!!
Hope all is well with you Patricia and your electric blanket is doing it’s job!! Cheers. Lindsey.

    1. Yep, we did it too, lol. We have a friend who was a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast a few years ago, who thought he'd volunteer again for the Olympics. It seemed a shame to point out just how old he will be in 2032. Isn't this cold wind a horror? The electric blanket got a shock last night when we had a power outage around 4-5 am!
