Happy 96th Birthday to Her Majesty!
The Queen has had a life-long love of horses, and is pictured recently with her beloved Fell ponies..
How wonderful that she rode right up until late in 2021...
Quite amazing.
I thought it might be fun to look at some of her riding moments over her very long life...
With beloved consort, Prince Philip, who played polo but had to cease riding in his senior years. He then became a very successful carriage driver.
and granddaughter Princess Beatrice...
Happy Birthday, Your Majesty.
Oh yes, so many good wishes going to Her Majesty today - and I love the new photo celebrating her amazing 96 years.
ReplyDeleteThanks also for sharing so many great 'horsey' photos too dear Patricia - many memories of our lovely Queen over the past years gone by. She will be missed now when absent from public engagements but has definitely earned her time of relaxation. God Bless Our Queen.
It is such a great photo, and this is a birthday worth noting. A little sad that she is no longer up to all the public activities, but I notice that it was at age 96 that Prince Philip decided to stay home too! God Bless her.
DeleteLovely photos of the queen, Patricia. It's remarkable that she's still so active and still so busy with her horses at her great age. Do you know if she still rides?
ReplyDeleteQuite remarkable, Val. No doubt she is visiting the horses with a few carrots, but the Queen had to stop riding late last year when she began to experience back problems. These have resulted in the cancellation and scaling back of public engagements, but she seems very bright and active behind the scenes at Windsor.
DeleteBy the way, I've noticed she always wears a headscarf and not a hat. It seems to be her way, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteYes, always the scarf for riding and country life! Of course, beautiful selection of Hermes scarves :)
DeleteDearest Patricia,
ReplyDeleteReaching 96 is quite a milestone indeed.
My Dad made it to 98.5 and that is exceptional.
Sure the queen had endless resources and the BEST well trained horses at her disposal. Something that most of us never had access to.
May she add on to her long life.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette, Your Dad did reach a great age at 98.5. My father made it to 95.5 and we were very proud of him too. Access to the finest of horses has been the privilege of monarchy for hundreds of years, and the queen certainly enjoyed her favourite activity. I wonder if in the future things might change in this regard, with a scaled-down monarchy predicted.

DeleteWishing Her Majesty many happy returns of the day. Such a special occasion! I loved seeing the photos through the years. She always seems so happy out of doors with animals and her family. Time away from people would be such a relief.
ReplyDeleteEvery birthday is special once you are in the 90s! The Queen certainly looks happy and attractive in old age. No doubt she is more relaxed without all the daily excursions these days, but I bet she enjoyed the birthday party.
DeleteShe is such a beautiful lady. Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteYes, a beautiful lady all her life, and so devoted to her royal duties.
DeleteWhat an amazing Queen and woman of 96 years! She is beautiful when she smiles and looks lovely in her pearls. I love her white hair and style. Happy Birthday to Her Majesty.
ReplyDeleteQuite amazing for 96 years, after all those years of hard work. The Queen always has a dazzling smile, and was never outshone by Hollywood or anyone really. Her favourite pearls seem to compliment the white hair, don't they.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing all the horses that she rode through the years, and was especially drawn to those beautiful white ponies. Thank you for sharing them, Patricia, as I love horses as well. She rode at 94, that's awesome. And I like the little girl photo. : )

Aren't those white ponies just beautiful! They were the reason I just had to write a post, to use the photo :) It is incredible but the Queen was riding for a little while after she turned 95 last year, before a bad back led to medical advice to cease riding. I wonder if that was something of a world record. Such a cute little girl too.
DeleteHello my lovely Trish! Playing catch up after recent travels. Love all the photos of her Majesty. May God bless her 96th year and grant her wonderful health! Love getting info about the Royals through you. 😉 Have a blessed week ahead. xoxo
ReplyDeleteHello Carrie, Welcome back from your travels. I hope the Queen stays well to enjoy her Jubilee celebrations in early June. Blessings to you too. xoxo
DeleteI loved seeing all the photos, Patricia, and especially that first one. She is radiant!

Hello Amalia, glad you enjoyed. That first photo is indeed a winner! xo
DeleteHey! I adore Queen Elizabeth so I love this post! Also Pat, I know you must have seen the dresses from The Met Gala. Most if them were awfully strange but the one that Blake Lively wore... that was exquisite, down to the last detail. I do wonder if you might post on it. xx
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see your collection of music boxes sometime, Patricia, and how special that you know Clair de Lune on the piano. I took piano lessons for a short while when I was young, but I only know a couple songs to this day.
ReplyDeleteWishing you good June days.

Trish, what a beautiful tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. I love the photos and knowing you saw her in person on her visit to Brisbane. The Queen visited my hometown, Louisville, Ky also, but alas I was in New York. My one and only chance of standing in the crowd to see her! I went back to my blog to post the 2 rainbows that appeared yesterday over Her Majesty's mourners. I tend to believe such occurrences are coincidental … but separate rainbows over both her homes in separate countries … what do you think?
