CELEBRATIONS AND CONGRATULATIONS

This is our grand-puppy, HQ, joining in our early Christmas celebration...

HQ opens her own gifts - such a clever girl..

Little Aussie was here, with our two sons and daughters-in-law..

We had Chocolate Crackles -
from the cake stand outside the Polling Station when we voted on Saturday.

Aussie arranged the Nativity, in his own personal style..

He says the glass cake stand with the angels is Heaven.
And why not?

Mr C decorated a cake.
It is possible it was also my birthday...

It is always good to be given some OPI..
The long hot Summer calls for much wearing of sandals, and pretty toenails.

So Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged.
Good for them.  They seem to be well-suited and will be very popular, I imagine.

Love a Royal wedding - but lots of pressure when your wedding dress will go down in history, constantly re-shown forever and a day.

I hope they are happy and can't wait to see her ring.

Bye for now

  1. A glass cake stand makes such a wonderful place for the angels. Clever boy! I'm not at all ready for Christmas. I will start about the 9th by going shopping with my daughter. You inspire me though.

    1. That would be my usual routine too Darla. That was our day for Australia. I am on to packing for Canada now - and hopefully a White Christmas.

    1. Welcome to my blog, Jen. I'm excited too - loved their TV interview. And her white coat in the Diana Garden.

  3. Happy birthday! I hope your day was wonderful. I can't believe how ready for Christmas you already are, I need to get in gear because I've done very little so far! I'm excited for the next royal wedding and the new baby. It's nice to have things like this to look forward to. :)

    1. Thank you Jennifer. Maximum royal wedding fever alert here! I love all the charming details and they seem a great couple together. Not my usual Christmas routine, as now am packing to go to Canada for Christmas with our daughter and other grandsons.

  4. So nice to have children and grandchildren at home and your Aussie let his imagination go with the angels in heaven on a cakestand, wonderful. Always fun to see how clever dogs are, they are so unpatient as a child when there are presents to distribute and love unpacking their gifts. The forthcoming marriage of Prince Harry was in our newspaper too today, always exciting a royla wedding.

    1. Aussie is a little charmer, and was singing hymns for me as he set up the angels. (Not his usual music, I add). Royal weddings, always good value for style and pageantry.

  5. Lovely early Christmas for you! I do miss having Christmas in summer! And a birthday as well. I love the little dog, Patricia. If that is your garden, it looks beautiful. Enjoy your lovely weather!

    1. All my Christmases have been in Summer! If we don't get a white one this year, it will probably never happen - so off we go, very soon. Yes that is our garden (well, part of it) and it seems to do well on the slope. Unfortunately a toxic brown snake appeared just after the family left Sunday. Yikes!!

  8. Happy Birthday, dear Patricia. What a wonderful cake this is. Love the roses on it. I see you have your tree up and decorated, how delightful! We're getting ours this weekend - can't wait! Love that crown ornament on your tree. It will be nice to see Harry get married. : )

    1. Thank you Sheri. We are enjoying the tree for a few weeks before we set off for Canada. I will take it down when we come home. Yes, it is an artificial tree. Crown ornament came from - where else? - London.

  9. It's nice to see that some young people still see angels in heaven (on cakestands...). And I love your little dog. I am sure there will be lots more about the wedding and reactions to it. And...Happy Birthday!

    1. I love the lad's whimsical side - and also his intense interest in his Children's Bible. It looks like a reasonably long Royal Engagement, plenty of time for speculation about the wedding. Thank you for your kind wishes.

    1. Thank you Rosemary. It is great fun having an imaginative and artistic grandchild. We also made a fairy garden at the weekend, and he enjoyed arranging a few terracotta fairies and gnomes - shortly before a Brown snake was seen in the garden. Oh Dear!

    1. Thank you Jenny. Just had a phone call from young Aussie, and he is still talking about the cake stand. He must be pleased with himself. Sending a bit of Summer your way.

  12. Happy Birthday, Patricia, I love the look of your cake. But isn't your dog supposed to wait until Christmas to open her gifts?

    1. Thank you Amalia, Mr C decorated my cake in his own special way :)
Yes, normal to wait until Christmas but we are going to Canada and will not see them at Christmas so we declared a mini Christmas for one day.

  13. Hi dear Val, and thank you. Aussie rang me yesterday and is still talking about heaven on a glass cake place. He is a sweet boy. Yes, so many changes in the Royal Family, and somewhat unheralded - suddenly it is OK with the American divorcee, and we are all happy for them all. I love that engagement ring, always love a square cut diamond, and Diana's stones are so special. In idle moments I am wondering which direction the bride will go with her gown. It will be the gown of the year.

  15. Trish, a Happy Birthday! I love your Christmas decorations.

Does HQ ever mistake someone else's presents for her own and open them too? When you think about it, how would she tell the difference? Perhaps the adorable girl waits for your permission to open a package? Luckily our family dog was good about not getting into things (other than the kitchen trash can, which was a lost cause -- too many good smells). After his puppy and teething stage, he never chewed shoes, took food off of even a coffee table, nor unrollowed toilet paper out of boredom. I don't think we, his family, can take credit for it though. He was a reasonably good dog.

    1. Thank you Debra. Yes, the pretty HQ only opens the gift she is given and encouraged to open. I don't think she would 'attack' other presents under the tree. It sounds like you had a nice family dog, quite well behaved.

Belated birthday wishes! What a lovely combined celebration with the family!
Aussie is a star and I’m impressed with his cake stand Heaven👏🏻👍🏻
Safe travels, how very exciting to have a winter snowy Christmas☃️
My daughter said she enjoyed the European Christmas with time to play board games indoors as well as brief walks in the snow!
It’s sweltering here and they take the girls to the beach after school each day for a swim🏊🏻‍♀️
Will phone you next year on your return!
    Love

  18. Dearest Shane, thank you for your good wishes. I hope for my very first White Christmas, and chances are good because there has been some snow already. I like the sound of the Euro Christmas, which is probably what we will experience. We are planning a number of excursions to festive/snowy events too. What a change for the girls going swimming through the Christmas holidays. Look forward to your call in 2018! xxoo
