It is cold and wet here, yet again, and so unusual for winter.
At last our favourite pink rose bush is covered in buds, but My Goodness, the black spot is quite revolting.
Too much rain, not enough sunshine!
As is the way of it, when the winter is most miserable,
the fashion shops bring out Summer....
I was instantly captivated by a pair of turquoise/emerald green sandals ...
(sssshh they also take my orthotics)
.. as the Cardinals are preparing to fly north for a few days much closer to the Equator...
Building a resort wardrobe around green feet:
Caftans
Various citrus tops and pants
White denim jacket, green scarf from L.A.X. duty-free...
Banana Republic top from Ottawa..
Purple dress, turquoise necklace found in Texas, 2006 ..
White sparkle caftan, jade pendants..
Sorted!
Since my brush with cancer last year, I have tended to eat organic food whenever possible...
and last night we re-visited Mondo Organics Restaurant -
It was deliciously Healthy!! I feel so much better when I live my life without preservatives and additives...it just takes a little more effort..
And this is my new toy:
A Sunbeam Slow Cooker..
Pumpkin and lentil curry soup tonight...
Stay warm and dry,
and have a great week

Hi Val, what fun to get a response so soon after I posted this! Still sitting here at the 'puter :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the green stuff..
A super post Patricia,
ReplyDeletewhat great outfits and good choice of color combinations..love the green shoes.
You are all ready for your trip. I wish you a great time.
I too eat as much organic as I can. I am lucky here, as some of the farmers sell to the littleshop in the village. so i can get healthy greens.
I feel much better. drink lots of water.. we are what we eat, so the saying goes.
happy weekend.

Thank you Val, we will certainly enjoy getting away from the wet and cold.
DeleteIt would be great to buy vegetables fresh from the farms; we occasionally go to a farmer's market and stock up on the fresh fruits and veg. We certainly are what we eat, especially as we get older.
Happy Sunday to you Val.

You will look great on your trip - have a lovely time - I wonder where it will be.
ReplyDeleteI have had a slow cooker for as long as I can remember, they are especially useful when you have people staying - pop the meal in, go out for the day, and it is all ready when you return.
Although I usually enjoy winter, I can't wait to have a little break in the sunshine. We are going to Cairns!
DeleteYou sound experienced with the slow cooker, while I am still trying to improve my skills. I find soup easiest, but need practice on other meals. It is good to learn new things.
Love those sandals, you will have very happy feet this coming Spring!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith - it is just as well I live in Queensland in the strong sunlight, with my penchant for coloured shoes and bright clothing! Feet will be very happy, especially with the orthotics popped in there.
DeleteI love the colour of those sandals! I think you will really enjoy your slow cooker. I use mine a lot in the winter. There is something very nice about making a meal early in the day and having it fill the house with good smells as it cooks.
ReplyDeleteI need to get my mindset into early morning dinner prep! It certainly is the weather for the slow cooker at the moment, and I have been consulting various girlfriends about recipes and tips.
DeleteIt certainly is the weather for the slow cooker Patricia. I can't believe you are enjoying rose buds, very exciting even if with a little black spot. Green shoes are gorgeous . Great post today very inspiring. Thanks for sharing Shell
ReplyDeleteThe roses have all started to open up today Shell - exciting! It must be the Irish in me: those green sandals called to me as I ran past the shoe shop, and I was compelled to go in - he he..
DeleteThose shoes are great and I enjoyed looking at the outfits you chose to wear with them.
ReplyDeletePumpkin and lentil soup? I may have to try coming up with something like that. Sounds delicious.
Darla
Looking forward to wearing the green shoes, Darla, and the soup was delicious. I'll keep that recipe on file!
DeleteSince you live in a " hot " country, I´m sure you have plenty of clothes to choose from going to north. Once again - our geographical differences get me mixed up all the time - especially when the outside pictures don´t look wintery at all.
ReplyDeleteSo, if you only bought the sandals, it´s fine with me.
You do like going on small ( and long ) trips, which makes me feel a weirdo, as I have very little to share on that subject.
Anyways, do have a good time !
So true Mette, I have almost no really warm clothes, just light cardigans and sweater, but lots for hot weather. I know it doesn't look like winter when flowers are blooming and there is no snow, but there can be an icy wind, and the house becomes quite cold. We do like a little getaway, mixing business with pleasure!
DeleteLove those green sandals Patricia and they go with absolutely everything. Have a wonderful trip and hope you catch some warmer weather. Here in the UK we are having a bit of a heat wave and making the most of it!
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Hi Patricia, looking forward to a little warm break, not that the winter here is all that bad - it is just that we do not have central heating, or a basement to put it in, for that matter. Enjoy your UK heatwave!
DeleteLove the greenish blue and purple clothing and shoes. And, the food too, of course.:)
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, I rather like the effect of the purple with the green/blue too and can't wait to wear it to dinner!
DeleteGreen has never been one of my colors, but after seeing all your lovely green outfit combinations I'm about to change my mind! So fashionable looking. Like Mette, it's sometimes confusing for me when I see the flowers blooming during your winter season.
ReplyDeleteRoses in winter! Of course that doesn't sound like winter to us in the northern hemisphere, but as you say your houses aren't built or equipped for cold weather.
ReplyDeleteYour holiday wardrobe looks super and the green sandals are lovely. Enjoy your slow cooker. I can't imagine life without mine. I've had one for decades and love the way it makes meat so tender.
