July 1st is almost over, and the World of Blog appears to be safe and well.
Today I finished my Birdie shirt - and I love it...
Butterick B5804, with the bow tied front.
Lightweight georgette from Spotlight, it is too thin to wear in the current cold, wet weather. But soon it will make a debut appearance.
When does a shoe look like a bird?
When the best matching buttons from my stash were a set of tiny little shoe buttons - perfectly colour co-ordinated.
Here's a close-up...
In other sewing news and in the long-term project area,
I am half-way through my wool tapestry cushion:
happily purchased at Liberty on our last trip to England...
Liberty cross-stitch - happy memories of that wonderful store..
Have a great week, and I hope Blogger and Google are kind to you all.

The blouse looks great and I love the shoes, had to look closely because they do blend in with the birds.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are keeping busy.
Darla
Ah, then my mission succeeds - they fit right in with the birds! Always busy, Darla..
DeleteWonderful blouse - you should have fun as people try to figure out those perfectly matched buttons. I am impressed by your future cushion. So beautiful and a great way to remember a visit to Liberty. I had Tea there, because once I got inside that store, I never wanted to leave.
ReplyDeleteThanks Beryl, I had tea at Liberty also, a delightful experience. Maybe the cushion will be finished by Christmas - maybe ...
DeleteYou are such a clever girl. Don't talk to me about long term projects. I have several on the go, which shouldn't be long term but they seem to have become this! Help!! ;)
ReplyDeleteSuzy xx
I like to think long term projects are a sign of a highly gifted creative soul :) So many projects, so little time! Occasionally some of mine are 'gifted' to charities .. xx
DeleteI just love those buttons, Patricia! Your stash is much more interesting than mine which is all yarn. :-)
ReplyDeleteNever thought I'd find a home for those buttons, but there you are, I think they have found it. My stash is eclectic, bordering on madness, I think :)
DeleteI had no luck leaving my comment earlier today; wouldn't publish for whatever reason. Was telling you your tapestry is so gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAh, I also have had a few problems leaving comments Sanda. Seems a few gremlins did get into the system, but at least we are all here today :)
DeleteGlad you like the tapestry, and of course if it is ever finished it will probably get its own blog post!
Well, you have been busy: ) !
ReplyDeleteA lovely shirt and oh so sweet buttons. You have admirable handwork skills!!
HB has been away on business - that's when I get busy! Sometimes I don't even make the bed, forage quickly for food, and keep right on sewing - so decadent :)
DeleteThose buttons are just so gorgeous! This is a great shirt to showcase them on. With the tie front, the look is very elegant. Great sewing...J
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith, I think it looks elegant too, and glad you agree. Amazing how those buttons were the perfect match.
DeleteI have so many buttons, it's time I learnt to sew ; they're a wonderful things to collect though, aren't they ? Great shirt !
ReplyDeleteThanks Silver Bunny, it is funny how buttons seem to accumulate for us ... I like antique ones too, and sometimes buy them at antique stalls or markets.
DeletePatricia, I love the designs on your buttons. So unique and elegant. All I can do is repeat myself: Love your needle work too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debra, I think the buttons are fun, and never knew how or when I would use them!
DeleteLovely fabric for your shirt Patricia - the design reminds me slightly of Escher's work.
ReplyDeleteBlogger have given a 3 month sunset period, as they call it, before Google Reader finally goes, which is all rather sad.
Googled Escher, my knowledge of him pertaining only to stairs! Now I see what you mean, lots of graphic bird designs, and thank you for the comparison. I love the shirt.
DeleteThank you for the Google information, I am beginning to understand that there is a difference between Google Reader and Google Friend Connect, which is a start. I wonder if things will go haywire in 3 months?
Patricia, Google Reader has gone - switched off as promised on July 1st - but I can find no mention whatsoever that Google Friend Connect (our Followers gadget) is going to be touched. I think there has been an awful lot of confusion and misinformation over the past few months. That isn't to say that everything will stay the same for ever, but at the moment I think we're safe. :-)
DeleteDear Perpetua - my Google Reader is still with me, may be it has gone in France - they say they are giving it 3 months so that bloggers can to transfer to an alternative such as bloglovin'. However, I think that really they want you to use their google circles.
DeleteHow weird, Rosemary. It's totally gone, both on the separate link and on my dashboard, where I just have my Blogger reading list. All that's left is a notice giving people until July 15th to move their feeds to a different reader.

Loving the blouse and those buttons are perfect. The tapestry is gorgeous too.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Thank you P , bird shirt is great to wear; and tapestry is moving slowly to the finish line. X
ReplyDeleteWow, you made that shirt all by yourself? Amazingly beautiful and definitely a must have! Great job! I simply love the idea and design of it. I can’t wait for its debut appearance soon! Anyway, the handcrafts are really really pretty too! Hope to see more of you creative ideas! God bless!
