FLOWERS AND GRANDSONS

Hi, I found this book for kids, which just happens to feature our own lorikeets and cockatoos,
along with other native Australian birds and animals.
Perfect to introduce the Petite Garcon to our place ... very soon.

On my daily walk I found another Australian icon.
The Golden Wattle - blooms in winter and smells divine.
Our Australian National Floral Emblem.

And here is the young man himself, resplendant in the second pair of PJ's I sent off to him in Canada.
Note his mother also plants pink petunias.
Like mother, Like daughter, as they say.

The sorting of the Old Family Home continues.
This rug belonged to my mother, and came up beautifully in the wash.

As is well-known, I cannot resist a bird of any kind.
Guess who was first hand up for a little ducky oil painting.
With hints of orange ...

Still trying to give up orange.
Gratuitous sighting of Belgian Royal wearing touches of OJ.

Our Browallia bush has burst into early Spring blossom.
It would be indiscreet to mention colour.

Very little sewing has been happening round here of late.  However, having found this sateen at Spotlight,
a pair of floral pants might appear one of these days.  Fingers crossed.

Little Aussie is here for a few days with his Dad,
and they getting right into the Lego,

and the teaset.

As you do.

Have a wonderful weekend.

xx

  2. What a couple of cuties you have visiting now and soon! Love the rug (would we call it a throw in the US?) and wonder if it's crochet? Very nice arrangement of colors. Good plan on sewing the pants - so difficult to find both a print you like and a pant the fits unless you make them yourself. I like to throw in a bit of remedial elastic at the back of the waist to make-up for dessert overindulgence.

    1. I love the idea of Remedial Elastic, Beryl. The term will go into my sewing repertoire immediately. Yes, it is a crotchet rug/throw; I don't know who made it, but I never saw Mum doing it. Yes, the boys are cute alright :))

    1. Yes, Mette, the little cousins are 12 weeks apart in age. They met as babies, obviously forgotten, and will meet for one weekend in a few weeks - exciting!! We are making plans already. Glad the excitement is showing :)

  4. How wonderful that your family will be arriving very soon, I can also sense the tone of anticipation in this post Patricia. Is there anything cuter than little people dressed in their pj's?
Two terracotta ducks sit in my garden, one experienced an unfortunate incident with it's beak but all hail the magic of super glue and calm was restored!

    1. Another pair of PJ's on the way for Little Aussie, this time blue with monkeys (which is fitting for him). I am on a roll - this sewing is much easier than for myself. My ducks send a quacking salute to your ducks! xx

  8. You must be enjoying your time with the grandchildren! What fun. The first picture is precious. Don't fight the orange; just go with it until it runs its course! The Browallia is so pretty. Have heard of it, but never grown it. Is it fragrant?
