AROUND THE WORLD IN ART AND MUSIC

Hello there..
We Red Cardinals have arrived home, tired but exhilarated after our long flight around the globe.

The Art and Music tour in the South of France was blissful...

But then, so was the Canadian Fall and the time with daughter and grandchildren...

'The Jewel', Changi Airport, Singapore

I was unable to blog along the way due to time constraints and no 'puter..

Let's see how I go after the event....

Flying to London, via Singapore:
'The Jewel', a huge circular shopping mall attached to the airport.

Nobody told us about the amazing waterfall centred in a vertical garden.
Astonishing...and a great relief from the Singapore heat...

And on to London for a day of rest...

We caught up with old friends for lunch and lots of chat, popped into Covent Garden, and had a little walk on the Mall.  Said 'Hi' to Her Majesty...

The Mall, looking towards Buckingham Palace
Naturally, we explored the Impressionists at the National Gallery, in preparation for our tour in Provence..

Paul Cezanne 'The Sea at L'Estaque', 1876

Vincent van Gogh, 'A Wheatfield, with Cypresses', 1889
Pierre-August Renoir, 'At the Theatre', 1876-77
After these excitements, we caught our flight to Nice..

Our first time on British Airways, the flight just over an hour, and look at the delicious Afternoon Tea we were served.  Take note of the warmed scone and the Rodda's clotted cream.  I have sent a note to Qantas, Australia, to consider this for the Brisbane-Sydney flight.  Just saying..

 Nice was nice...

In fact, it was absolutely glorious..

The Markets..

Matisse once lived here...

We met our tour companions for the next fortnight at dinner by the brilliant Mediterranean Blue sea..

Until next time..

Bonsoir

  2. Dear Partricia - what a wonderful start to your trip 'Around the world in art and music'.
You must say that BA did you proud as that looks lovely afternoon tea for such a short flight.
Nice is always a lovely destination - the sun always shines, the skies are blue, and the food delicious.
Hope that you have now fully recovered from all of the travelling, but it is good to know that you are now safely home.

    1. Dear Rosemary, Thank you for your kind comments. Nice was a beautiful surprise - I had never given it much thought, but it was just so attractive. It has taken a week, but the jet lag is gone. We are glad to be home and safe - there were numerous hiccups along the way, medical and travel, and it is a lot to deal with when a long way from home. However, we were enthralled with our journey.

The food you had on your flight looks Yummy, especially that warm scone and cream. And I love the picture of the carousel, it's delightful. I'm glad you had a nice adventure, and this is a sweet picture of you and husband. So good that you got to spend time with your daughter and grandchildren too. That's the most special part of the journey. : )

    1. Hello Sheri, So many good things over more than a month! I will do a few more posts. We saw those carousels in 4-5 towns, and they are individually painted and so charming. Much of the time we were looking at art!

  8. a job, consider adjusting your approach. Just because lots of places aren't many jobs doesn't mean you should give up.
You may consider going to another area, but make sure that you can afford the commute if you get hired.
