Autumn has come, and with it the return of the Lorikeets...
They sulked for three weeks, refusing to come to the bird feeder...
returning two days ago as if nothing had happened...
And all because I put a fake baby owl nearby.
Don't say these guys can't hold a grudge!
The Red Cardinal Garden of Neglect is coming back to life, with interesting fungi and lots of fresh blooms:
Sewing Sisters came for a day of stitching...
I love to decorate a cake with one of my tiny viola blooms..
We had a good sugar fix...
and yes, did lots of stitching...
May the Fourth be with you...

Oh my how pretty those Lorikeets are, Patricia! Just gorgeous! You must be enjoying the cooler weather now. I wish ours would warm up again! Your garden looks lovely, but then it always does!
ReplyDeleteWe are loving the cold mornings, the crisp sweet air wafting in and freezing our toes! Happy to send you some warmth. Even the birds and flowers love the milder weather here :)
DeleteOh, those Lorikeets are something else!! I think I would gaze at them all day if they lived nearby. They are so unusually pretty. What a nice sewing day you had with the girls, and that cake looks scrumptious. You have set a lovely table, Patricia.
ReplyDeleteWishing you wonderful May days.
love, ~Sheri
Lorikeets sure are a distraction, Sheri. They call to us when they are outside (not all day long, but a few times each day). They look brilliant in the sunshine. We always enjoy our sewing days, and we did do some sewing, I just forgot to get a picture. Pretty china is always the go, as well as a good cake. Happy May.
DeleteLorikeets are such characters! They have feasted on my pink bottlebrush and are now doing flybys to check the grevellias bloom progress. Oh everything looked beautiful and delicious for your stitching day.
ReplyDeleteOh, don't they love a honey blossom! Ours are screeching over some gum tree blossoms today, so funny hanging upside down. I think they are drunk. Stitching in Autumn or Spring is just perfection. xxx
DeleteLovely post! Thanks for sharing the cartoon. The actor who played Chewabacca was a sweet gentleman, may he rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, thank you. I did enjoy this gentle cartoon. Our family have loved Star Wars for a lifetime, it seems. Rip Chewie :)
DeleteHi Patricia sorry i have been unwell. What a lovely post, its always lovely visiting you,you have such a lovely blog full of beautiful pics xx
ReplyDeleteHello Sheryl, I am sorry to hear you have been unwell, and hope you are feeling much better now. Glad you enjoy my pictures :) xx
DeleteThat's a lovely arrangement of the roses in the bottles, what a good idea. I would think the lorikeets are just getting their heads around being in your place again, very wise of them to be a little careful around the owl for a while! A beautiful idea to decorate your cake with a real flower.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenny, I love my antique blue bottles, and the roses do set them off. Just had to clear away some parsley which grew over the owl's face: that will never do!!
DeleteOh dear, Trish. My comment disappeared or never posted. It has something to do with Google+ disappearing. When I started my blog I as able to sign in on Blogger. Shortly thereafter, Google launched Google+ and in the USA converted my profile to Google+. Now that they have disbanded Google+ I guess I have no legitimate profile, so my comments go nowhere on an iPad, only if I am on my laptop. Much too complicated for me to understand! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to see the garden, cake and return of the Lorikeets. Very pretty to look at one and all!
''was able'' it should read.
DeleteOh dear, Google have a lot to answer for! I don't understand it at all.
DeleteWe are happy too - the garden is pretty, the birds are here, and the Dreadful Hot Summer has gone away for a time. Love this season of Autumn.
Happy to hear the Lorikeets are back. They seem like such interesting birds. Your table for the sewing get together looks very pretty. What are you working on these days?
ReplyDeleteI loved the birds.
