Happy International Women's Day, dear readers...
Let us celebrate our lives, our talents, strengths and accomplishments, and look to a future of equality and empowerment for women all around the world.
It seems a good day to share an exhibition currently showing at the Museum of Brisbane: The Designer's Guide: Easton Pearson Archive.
Brisbane designers Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson retired in 2016, after many years at the forefront of Australian fashion, with their unique artistry, techniques, very innovative materials, and sustainable ethos.
Two hundred garments from the Archive are currently on display.
Here are some which appealed particularly to me:
Applique and embroidery |
Texture in embroidered, ruffled petals and fringing |
Wonderful effects with beading |
Totally love the cowrie shell embellishment |
Skilful crazy patchwork |
Loved this because: roses, colour, a bit Frida Kahlo |
I spent Women's Day joyfully rehearsing with my Ladies Choir, preparing for a year of monthly concerts...
Followed by a dainty ladies' lunch with my lovely friend V...
and a tiny bit of Easter shopping:
Don't forget to celebrate..

Beautiful post Trish....we are worth celebrating! What a wonderful exhibition xx
ReplyDeleteLove celebrating the accomplishments of talented women! I really loved the fun touches and great embroidery in these garments. xx
DeleteThank you for sharing photos from the exhibition. Not things that I would wear but beautiful fashion anyway and such talent!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my blog. Agreed, I would not wear many of them either, but they were available in more simplified forms which were very wearable, as well as unique.
DeleteGreat exhibit!
ReplyDeleteI just love those dainty little sandwiches, with the crusts cut off!
Trouble is....I could eat a whole plateful! 😂
Enjoy your weekend!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Hi Linda, I did eat a whole plateful - it was lunchtime after all! Happy weekend to you.

Deletehappy international women day
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see some of Australia's fashion. The styles are a bit different than ours here in the states. Those sandwiches sure look good, and it was wonderful to get together with your friend for lunch. And it's always fun to go shopping....those bunnies are too cute.
ReplyDeleteHave a splendid week, Patricia.
love, ~Sheri
Hi Sheri, I enjoyed seeing the Australian fashion too! So much of what is in our stores is mass produced overseas, and can be seen all around the world. Nice to be unique sometimes. Shopping with friends = always good!
DeleteLove this post Trish! And yay all things Ladies!! ;) Some of those dresses and outfits were gorgeous. ;) And those are some mighty fancy tea sandwiches. They looked folded like napkins. Lol
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend ahead xoxo
Hi Carrie, yay for the ladies! Those sandwiches sure were elegant 😍. Happy weekend to you xxx
