I was greeted by this beautiful pearly sunrise this morning,
precursor to a dull cold day.
Some birds were up early...
taking over the little lorikeet bird feeder.
Note, lorikeet in the background trying to scare large cockatoo...
Ah, that's better. Lorikeets 1, Cockatoos nil.
Defeated.
One of them then went and decapitated one of my rose buds.
Grrrrrrr....
Runaway nasturtium is having flowers..
This bit wanders over a chair..
Funny, cheerful plants.
My father loved butterflies, which made this patio set irresistible...
So did you see what Kate wore to Wimbledon?
Yes, the happy yellow dress from her Australian tour, 2014.
The one I shamelessly copied in navy and white linen...
My Sewing Sisters were here last week.
It was like Biscuit Day on The Great British Bake-off..
I worked on beading my dress for the upcoming wedding.
It is looking good and received the tick of approval from the Sisters...
and today I visited my father's last home before he went into residential care.
The old avocado tree was laden with fruit.
He loved that tree!
So many memories....
Take care

Hugs. I just think you need hugs! The nasturtium is hugging the chair beautifully, but that isn't the point. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteAw, Amy, maybe I do need hugs! Thank you for this. And I think the nasturtium is giving a very nice hug, quite artistic in fact.
DeletePatricia, what a cheerful "yellow" post. I loved every part of it. You have the most exotic and beautiful birds around your neck of the woods. The Cockatoos are so pretty with the little yellow feathers in back. I'm glad the beading on your dress is coming along. I sure hope my dress fits at the time of Jess' wedding haha. Kate's dress is very pretty. And this yellow flower is beautiful.....a daffodil?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful rest of the week, Patricia. I didn't know your dad loved butterflies, how precious.
~Sheri
Ah yes, we have to same dilemma. May the dress fit! Oops I was just eating chocolate...
DeleteI bought a clutch purse for the wedding today, very nice with a sparkle clasp. Might show on the blog.
Tiny daffodil, I think is called a jonquil. Only one has appeared this year. Dad loved butterflies as well as birds, and had many lovely reference books about them. I think it is genetic!
What a beautiful country you have Trish! I would be so excited to have that avocado tree. I can eat guacamole until it comes out of my ears. The cookies look delicious. I love your new patio set. You father must be looking down smiling at it.
ReplyDeleteI'd be excited to have that avocado tree too, Debra! Unfortunately the property will be sold, and the tree with it. They take a long time to grow and fruit.
DeleteThe title of this post, Yellow, caught my eye. I've been excited about yellow lately. Not fashion, (can't wear it) but furnishings. I've haven't been attracted to the color before... but suddenly... who knows. I do like that patio set and an avocado tree would be most welcome.
ReplyDeleteI love a touch of yellow too Darla, it brightens up its surroundings. The patio set was a find in a store which sells lots of bargains; I loved it on sight. And I wish I could bring the big avocado tree home with me...
DeleteWhat a glorious sunrise Trish. That's not the same naughty Cockatoo with family and friends? Cheeky! Delicious fare for your Stitching Sisters. I am sure your nostalgic trip was special xx
ReplyDeleteThose cockatoos are so naughty. Yesterday one of them wrecked my very best succulent 'rose'...grrrrr
DeleteIt was special to see the house again, and it was great to see the tenants taking very good care of it. xx
I imagine that was one very piqued cockatoo! No doubt you were as well after the bud decapitation. I love nasturtiums, lovely untidy, sprawling things that they are - always so cheerful in winter. As is that dress. Sounds like your memories of your father are mellow - grief will come and go in waves.
ReplyDeleteThose cockatoos are getting beyond a joke, Sarah Liz. At least they don't touch the nasturtiums which are have a very happy time in their wanderings. Funny how grief works - I am much calmer about it all now, and seeing the house was a happy experience (even though it has to be sold).
DeleteYellow is such bright and cheerful colour, and I am always a bit jealous of people who can wear it. Sadly I am not one of them. It makes me look like I am suffering from a tropical disease. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour copy of Kate's dress is gorgeous. It must have left you with very mixed feelings to go to your father's home. That avocado tree is amazing!
Dear Kristie, there must be a shade of yellow you can wear! I do love to wear the bright clear yellow which suits my colouring, but cannot wear mustard or old gold tones (more is the pity, because I love them too).
DeleteIt was a bit strange to visit the house, but I did enjoy it. The avocado is fantastic, and I wished I could grab a few - but they were at least 30 feet up in the tree!
Hello dear Patricia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post.
I am adding a little yellow here and there around the house..
Love your biscuits.
Those Lorikeets are adorable.
love your dress.. always said that you were talented with your designs.
Happy Sunday..
love Val..xxxxx
Hello Val, I know you like yellow too - I see it in your fabulous yellow roses. Have a great weekend. xxxx
DeleteHowdy Trish!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your cheerful yellow moments. ;) Just made me smile. I especially LOVE that patio set and the meaning behind it. But I loved it all and gobbled it up - just like the wonderful looking cookies (biscuits).
Blessings to you dear Gal! xoxo
Yellow is so cheerful, it always raises my spirits. As does the patio set - glad you like it :)
DeleteBlessing back over the ocean to you too! xx
You are so clever to be able to copy that dress! Lovely. I love those rambling nasturtiums, so long as they don't have many more leaves than flowers. I think they need poor soil to encourage them to put out the most flowers.
