ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS

On the First day of Christmas...

I bought the holly..

constructed a Yule Log..

baked a Glazed Ham..

made a stocking for Little Aussie..

made more stockings for Sydneysider son and Irish Lass..

wore my new white linen, sparkled it up with an angel pin, rhinestone art deco earrings and bracelet, half price at the Mall...

went to church and sang 'Joy to the World, the Lord Has Come!'

Later that night, Santa came....

On Christmas morn, Little Aussie arrived - and after exchanging Greetings, said in his best, and most polite tone "I was hoping I might find a present under the tree" ..

and lo, so he did!

loved his little sleepover bed..

and his Iron Man suit

Mr C spoilt me with a silk kimono gown from The Happiness Place..

and among other goodies, Germaine Greer's latest book..

The young ones gave me this to read - an excellent choice!

my favourite spritz..

and some seriously good health foods..

to counteract this:

Later that day, it was so humid, I wore (shock, horror) Shorts!

In Queensland, there is no upper age limit to being cool in the Summer..

and so the Grandparents were Very Happy!

The End

  3. Lovely family Christmas day Patricia, but I am so surprised to see a Waitrose pudding in Australia.
You were looking fabulous in your shorts and touches of glitter.

    1. Thank you Rosemary - white plus sparkle is the only way to go in the heat. Forecast for Sunday is 40 deg. around here! We are planning to escape to the cinema for most of the day...

  6. Thank you for taking me along for a view. Everything looks perfect. My favorite part is Little Aussies very polite "hope for a present". That is just so sweet.

The white dress is beautiful but you look pretty darned good in shorts too.

    1. Little Aussie was adorable, very grown up now he is 4. Whatever happened to the 2 year old rascal he once was? I think I might have had quite a bit of egg nog and champagne when I posed for the shorts photo!

  7. I love the "I was hoping to find a present under the tree." Such a sweetheart! The sleepover bed was a brilliant idea. I need to look for one of those for Lucy for when she is a bit older. It looks like you had a wonderful day!

    1. He is a sweetheart, Kristie! So polite, I could not believe it.. You will need a blow-up sleepover bed - it is brilliant. It also features the Octonauts his current favourite characters.

  9. Patricia,
You had such a special Christmas with your loved ones. I also had a nice Christmas and husband made glazed ham too. I like your carolers scene, and have always wanted one myself. That Yule log looks yummy. It's so funny seeing your Grandson in the pool because where I live it is so cold at Christmas time Brrrrrr. I loved the picture of you in shorts, and look at those long legs! What a lovely dress you made.

Happy New Year, you're such a special blog friend to me.

    Love,
    ~Sheri

    1. Glazed ham rules, Sheri! My wintry village is a collection built up over many years; I found the carollers in Vancouver two years ago (Macys?) and they stand under a lantern from Quebec. It is fun to find pieces to add - this year I added another church. Yes, shorts for Christmas in Australia - no snow round these parts! love P. x

  11. Oh Patricia, such lovely gifts!
It all comes and goes so quickly these days doesn't it?!
I bought the Heston Clementine pudding too - delicious we all loved it!
I made ambrosia and had brandy ice cream to go with it... not good for the waistline I know!!!

You can wear shorts - they look super - you definitely need to keep cool - I still remember that heat from when we lived there over 30 years ago! It nearly killed me coming from a colder climate.

I'm in relaxation mode now, putting my feet up and lots of reading - it's bliss.

    1. Hi Shane, another vote for Heston's pud! I love ambrosia but haven't had it for years - jealous... The heat nearly kills me too ... every year :) The relaxation after Christmas is surely bliss, enjoy it, and I will too! hugs to you too, P.
