The Garden of Neglect is throwing up a few blooms, despite a crazy heatwave...
I love this old rose, but have no idea of its name..
Meanwhile, didn't the Queen look amazing at Church in Sandringham?
Brilliant orange, with black fur trim.. Gorgeous..
I would love to think I could wear such an outfit when I am 87!!
Kate, festive in tartan, but it was no contest - the Queen wins hands down!
Camilla, stylish in purple - it seems to me her outfits are becoming increasingly elegant, in line with her popularity .. but maybe that's just my imagination...
Meantime, over in the USA, Michelle wore some pretty festive party looks this year..
Gold says Christmas...
as does green ...
I've been perusing my Vintage Fashion book:
Fashions in the 1920s were So Chic!
Jackie's in there ..
and Grace..
Post-Christmas, I find I am suddenly completely without energy -
bone weary, in fact!
Was it the champagne, the egg-nog, or the excitement??
Perhaps it is time for a bit of a rest in this little nest...
Enjoy the post-Christmas lull!
xxxx
Such a lovely post ~ I think we will all be finding a shady tree in the garden to sit under tomorrow with a cool drink ... J
ReplyDeleteWe plan on a day at the mall - air- con, movie, lunch, shopping...
DeleteDazzling indeed Val- I had not thought of that but yes, her clothes fit is perfection.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about feeling bone weary Patricia. I feel sapped of all my energy. Next year - I'm going to be so much more laid back and not get stressed out. (She says!!). Lovely post with some gorgeous pictures of our Royal family. Enjoy the lull and a Happy New Year
ReplyDeletePatricia x
That is reassuring Patricia, at least I am not alone! I thought I had been reasonably laid back this year, but seems I was running on adrenalin for a week or so, and now it has caught up with me. The Royals at Christmas always provide a bright spot in the calendar :)
DeleteMe too - I am feeling very lazy - any left over food I can lay my hands on for meals will do at the moment. It must be all the build up and the energy used pre-Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your roses sparkling in the sunshine.
Aha, we are all of like minds, methinks. We do our utmost to make and enjoy a beautiful Christmas for family, but now we pay for it! Leftovers reign here too Rosemary, but all will be tossed out tomorrow in the interests of weight-watching...except the chocolate!
DeleteWe are not so tired up here ( Finland ), perhaps due to having no snow yet!
ReplyDeleteIt´s always interesting to have a peek at the Royals, as representing is what they do.
Prince Charles looks quite old, which oddly made me feel a bit sad for awhile.
Grace Kelly was perfectly beautiful, t´s hard to find a match for her.
Only Catherine Deneuve is able to come close. Just my personal opinion.
Wishing you all the best for the last few days of this year and A Happy New Year 2014 !
It is good to hear there is energy in Finland! We have also noticed Prince Charles looking a bit like a 'senior citizen' these days, though one with a cheery face! Then Mr C and I look at ourselves and think, well, we are getting old too :-) Catherine D is certainly one of the world's greatest ever beauties; I wonder why she didn't make my book? Happy New Year to you too, Mette!
DeleteA really lovely post Patricia. We must have the same rose.. I posted a yellow one as well today..but it was beaten down by the storm.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looked stunning.. I admire her so much.
I am not a fan of Camilla.
But I must say enjoy seeing how the Royals are all fairing.
I think the tiredness is all the excitement and building up to christmas. I have just been relaxing around..and it rained today.
I love your old fashion book..
The old stars are so beautiful..
Wishing you a Happy New Year Betty..
love val x x x x
Thank you Val, I think you are right, our yellow roses look like twins. I am glad you are relaxing, you have been through a lot in recent weeks. Today we have been to a movie, and also just relaxing. It is too hot to do anything, anyway! Happy New Year, Val..xxxx
DeleteHope you enjoy the week leading up to New Year's, Patricia. I envy your heat wave and blooming flowers!
ReplyDeleteI love Michelle Obama's style ... she makes looking good look so effortless, doesn't she? The Queen looks spectacular too!
Hi Debra, yes, enjoying the week of unwinding, now the houseguests have all gone and things getting back to normal. Don't envy the heat wave - it is quite unpleasant today! The house feels like a warm bath, and not in a nice way. It is good to see the style ladies come out at Christmas time.
DeleteI think the Queen really outshines the younger generation in this case. I think I would enjoy your fashion book. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a copy. The days between the holidays were meant for resting weren't they? That's my story anyhow.
ReplyDeleteDarla
The Queen was brilliant at Christmas! Yes, definitely these are the days for resting - I'm still at it!
DeleteThe Queen is stunning!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to some rest here in the early part of 2014. Lovely post Patricia. Happy New Year!
The Queen made quite an impact! Happy New Year Sanda, and I hope you have a peaceful, restful January 2014!
DeletePatricia,
ReplyDeleteI loved the styles in the 20's, and I really like how your blog shows fashion from time to time, as I have always loved clothes and fashion. The green dress is so pretty, and I love that color. Isn't the gold dress lovely too?
Happy New Year, and I wish you peace and joy in the coming year. Thank you for your prayer for my brother-in-law. I appreciate it so much.
Love,
~Sheri
Oh, and your roses always make me smile.
ReplyDeleteLove,
~Me
