PRINCELY BEHAVIOURS

Our friendly pair of daily visitors, the Lorikeets, brought their two fat babies today.
It was pandemonium!
The usual one baby bird is noisy and demanding, but TWINS!!

Eventually mother and father sent the children down to play on our deck, and managed to have their own breakfast.

This baby has much more princely manners...

Apparently little Prince George remained beautifully calm during his Christening - what a bonny boy he is...

I don't know which cream dress I like the best:
The copy of the original Royal Christening gown, rich in old lace,
or Kate's beautiful Alexander McQueen frilled number and sweet hat...

Questions are being asked: who does he most resemble?
I think he looks a lot like Her Majesty the Queen.

The Choir of Her Majesty's Chapel Royal sang, including this anthem which I enjoy singing with my choirs - The Lord Bless You and Keep You (John Rutter)

This performance was recorded at the 60th Wedding Anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip.

Our Agapanthus are coming out, working up to their annual Show-Off!..

which heralds this:

and this:

Soon........

Have you begun your Christmas shopping yet?

  1. Yes, he does Valerie, there is a lot of the Family of Windsor going on in that little face. I love the gown too, so beautiful, and I wonder where the original is now?

  2. As soon as I saw George I thought he looked like his Dad. Mother and baby make a wonderful confection in cream.
    Christmas - what a thought.

    1. Yes, I can see William, definitely, and also the young Kate. It is always wonderful to see how a baby takes on family characteristics. Yes, too early to think of Christmas, but I have already missed the surface mail boat to Canada, and if I don't start soon I'll miss the air mail deadline too ... oh dear!

    1. George is adorable, and I think he resembles our youngest grandson in that respect :) I'll be up early with the birdseed and camera at the ready, trying to catch a pic of mother bird actually feeding the babies beak to beak - exciting! xx

  4. Beautiful Royal family. I was stopped with the photo of the birds though. Such colorful things right outside your window. I usually put off thinking of Christmas until at least Nov.1 - but even that date is right around the corner.

    1. We love our birdie friends - most of the time...
Nov 1 is a good time to start Darla, and I hope to get myself into gear by then too. I usually start a bit late, then it is a mad scramble towards Christmas.

  5. Those birds are so beautiful! It's hard to believe you have them in your backyard. Very few birds in North America have stunning colours like that.

I think you are right about Prince George looking like the Queen. I hope he takes after her in character as well as looks. I admire her greatly.

    1. They are very pretty birds Kristie - but then you have the Red Cardinal over there - that mythical bird I still have never seen!
Glad you can see the Queen too, Kristie, it means he will have the right look to be a King!

    2. Aw, but those red cardinals are just found in Eastern Canada. I really wish we had them out here!

  6. Love your colorful birds. The christening gown is so exquisite. I have a christening to attend soon, but alas, I won't be in an Alexander McQueen. Christmas? Are we nearly there already. I'm a last minute person, but I suppose with a grandbaby now I can't put it off too long!

    1. Love that you have a Christening coming up Sanda. The royal gown is gorgeous - and I love the way Kate colour matched her outfit to it. You will love Christmas shopping for your little grand-daughter!

  7. I am so jealous that you get to have such beautiful birds as visitors! I would love that! I haven't thought about Christmas until this week...I made a Christmas baby bonnet! But Christmas shopping is far far away.

    1. Hello Khammany, the birds are colourful and fun; we have been feeding them for years. A Christmas baby bonnet sounds really special - I hope you post a pic on your blog, as I'd love to see it.

  8. Oh my, the baby Lorikeets look adorable. So colorful, colorful as your part of the world.
Thank you also for placing the pictures of the Christening of the Royal Baby.
Where have I been, since this came as a surprise to me?
The outfits of both the mother and the baby are glorious!
Christmas shopping? No, I have not done any of it yet. I find it extremely difficult to save something I have bought for a certain date in the future - I tend to give them asap ( :

    1. Glad you liked the pictures of Prince George Mette. You are busy with your own little princess baby now! I have to Christmas shop early for the Canadians, and the 2 little boys have their birthdays near to Christmas as well. Once the parcels are gone, I will take a shopping break for a bit. I actually enjoy the excitement of December when the shops are playing the Christmas music and children are lining up to speak to Santa!

  10. Patricia,
Oh, what a special day a Christening is. The baby looks so sweet in his cream outfit. I can't believe the Lorikeets come around your house every day. They are beautiful birds! The only birds I see around here are the blue jays and sparrows and such. I love to bird watch; it's a favorite past time. The little tea set is so charming. I'm excited to get started on my Christmas shopping. The girls make their list every year.

Have a nice weekend admiring the birds.

    Love,

    1. We make lists too Sheri - it certainly assists the Christmas shopping (which I secretly enjoy). My friend gave me the Christmas tea set, and I like to get it out early and use it often in the festive season. I think blue jays are really pretty too, and have photographed them once or twice. Still looking to see and photograph a red cardinal one day! love P.

  11. I love your lorikeets and glorious flowers, Patricia. Such colour. I'm afraid I gave up trying to decide whom a baby resembles a long time ago. I wait until they're a little older. :-)

I like your festive tea-service, but am refusing even to think about Christmas for weeks yet.
