This week, I am pleased to report, I finally managed to get a few pictures of our local lorikeets..
But they are very shy, and I have not been able to get close at all (unlike the very cheeky birds we had at our previous address)..
This time, I stood in our doorway, and put the zoom lens at its furthest point, and this is what I got. A bit blurry, but they are lorikeets at their finest - feeding, chatting, and singing, decked out in their colourful plumage..
I had not really looked at the gowns, but had a request from a lovely blogger and follower, Kay of Georgia Girl with an English Heart. I forget how to make a link, but do check out her blog, it has lovely music and musing about life in beautiful Georgia.
Thank you Kay for giving me a nudge, and I went right over and selected a few for comment:
As usual, I rarely know who these ladies are, but I think this is stunning. More rusty than golden, but with real 50s glamour...
I do believe this is Elle Fanning, looking very elegant in a beautiful crinoline skirt, with a striking and unusual leopard bandeau top... (for the Red Cardinal, leopard never goes out of style.... I cling to a leopard top I made about 17 years ago)
This is just so baby-blue Cute...
Naturally, I like to show off the Australian ladies:
Golden Cate is always Perfection, and Nicole is striking out on her own, and very daring it is.
Australia's Rose Byrne, who won a Golden Globe for herself in bright lorikeet green with a train. Well done Rose.
And onward we go to the Oscars...
Be good

I have always wanted to see lorikeets in the wild, so I'm jealous you got some good photos of them. I visited Australia once years ago and I'm dying to go back. Maybe one day. For now, I'll just live vicariously through you. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my blog. Lorikeets are very hardy birds, found over much of Australia. I do hope you get to visit again one day.
DeleteAh, how lovely to see lorikeets, Trish. Your photos capture them so well! As for those dresses, I like the baby blue cute one best. At least it's one I could have imagined wearing in my youth. :))
ReplyDeleteHi from the lorikeets, who are watching nearby as I type. I like the blue of that dress very much too Val. It reminds me of a very similar dress I wore in my teens, so yes, you would have worn it too :))
DeleteThe little Lorikeets re beautiful hiding in the trees.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute and funny birds, as well as brilliant colour. They are chatting away in the trees today.
DeleteI think the last lady was in Champagne Problems, and I love her green dress. They all look so stylish and nice. I especially like the orangish color in the first gown. I'm so glad the Lorikeets have come to say hello to you at your new place, Patricia. They are the most beautiful birds. Thanks for giving us a peek into the Golden Globe gowns. That's always a treat for me every time. : )
ReplyDeleteI like the green dress too, very striking and suits her. The Lorikeets make me smile, every morning when I hear them in the trees. Glad you enjoyed the gowns, and I look forward to the Oscars.
DeleteThank you so much! I love the birds and the gowns! Now, I am wishing you could make a video and we could hear the birds singing! See, I am such a bossy boots. Now do wonder if these fashions might be from the Golden Globes of 2025. (I only know because I know that is Elle Fanning's dress from last year). Will you be uset with me for telling you that? I hope not! Now, you can look at more pretty dresses and you can do another post, or not! I love your taste and opinions on fashion, truly I do.
ReplyDeleteOops, time to move on I think. My Googling skills are not as sharp as hitherto! I will have a word with the lorikeets about making a recording :))
DeleteTyped above comment on my phone, so cant see mistakes, sorry!
ReplyDeletePlease forgive me for pointing that out!! As I say, had it not been for Elle Fanning, I would never have noticed! I have only seen birds like that in cages, they must be so gorgeous as real wildlife!
ReplyDeleteThat is ok Kay, I should have looked more carefully. I would not like to see a Lorikeet in a cage, they are so joyful and happy in their flocks in the wild. They roost in large trees at night.
DeleteI feel sorry for all birds in cages. They should be free! I enjoy birds in their natural habitat. xx
DeleteThe Lorikeets are such pretty birds. How lucky you are to have them in your garden. I always enjoy seeing the gorgeous gowns women wear although I never watch the awards shows. So thank you for highlighting them here.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy having these spirited little birds about, and can hear them nearby as I write. They are so colourful a flock of them makes a tree look like it is in bloom.
DeleteWhat an amazing bird!
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed Tamera, so brightly coloured, happy and funny. x
DeleteHi Trish! Playing catch up as we were down in FL visiting Annie. Love how your birds are putting on such a show! And I loved seeing the gowns from the Golden Globes too. I thought Rose hit it out of the park with that dress - I LOVE that color. Same for the first 50's feel (Zendaya's) dress. Oh how fun it must be to dress up on that level. :) Blessings to you xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie, I am playing catchup too! Glad you enjoyed the post - those birds are so much fun to have around, not to mention colourful. Nice to have a trip to FL, and trust you miss some of the heavy snow I see is around now. We are busy hoping and planning for a trip across to Canada later this year :)) xxx
DeleteI loved the photos of the lorikeets, such colorful birds. And those dress! Very chic!
