We had a wonderful Christmas in our new Cardinal Nest.
Our first visitors came soon after 9 am, with gifting and brunch for all...
The new living room was perfectly suited to gathering around the Christmas tree, with children, grandchildren and grand-puppies all having a great day. After presents and a fine lunch, the swimming was the main attraction for the afternoon.
Mr Red Cardinal gave me a longed-for bird bath for the new garden. We are working hard to put our own stamp on this garden and have started feeding the local birds.
There are lots of lorikeets about, but they are hard to catch in a photo..
These are some old favourite ornaments, gifted by blog readers of long-standing.
I hope you know who you are :)
In the spirit of the Red Cardinal Blog, I have been researching the Royal Christmas fashions for 2025..

This is the first year I have noticed colour theming among the royal family and their guests at Christmas morning church in Sandringham: Tones of red and brown were very co-ordinated, and had a lovely Autumnal feel...
Catherine, Princess of Wales, looked beautiful in a brown tartan coat, over a pleated check skirt, with a silk scarf, all in tones of brown, with a dark brown hat...
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice continue the theme with ruby toned hats, and warm coats in check and camel..
And I thought it was all happenstance....
I hope you are all enjoying the peaceful space after Christmas.
Unless you are going to the sales....
Happy New Year to you. May 2026 be filled with happiness and peace on earth.

I’m so pleased to hear you are happy in your new home, Trish. How lovely to have the family gather for Christmas! The royal photos are also cheerful and pretty. Wishing you a wonderful 2026, and I’ll look forward to seeing more of your lovely garden in the new year.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good first Christmas in your new home! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHello dear Trish! Love the Christmas catch up. And I always love seeing the Royals fashions too. I LOVED what Kate wore especially! Looks like you are continuing to settle in nicely and that warms my heart. Wishing you and your family peace and joy in the new year! 🙏🏻🌟
ReplyDeleteHello Carrie, glad you enjoyed the Royals fashions. I loved Kate's one the best too. We are getting settled now, and planted a little yellow rose today. Blessings for the New Year! xxx

ReplyDeleteMy grandchildren went away for the summer holidays, lucky poppets. But I cannot wait for them to come back, especially for outdoor lunches in the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteI am sure you miss them Hels. We miss ours when they go away too, and are looking forward to seeing them again this week for a special outing.
DeleteMerry Christmas and definitely know who they are....what a treat to see it. I am so glad you had a lovely time with your family and new memories made. Love your new Bird Bath. Our feathered friends will find it soon I am sure xxx
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Michelle, and a Happy New Year too! I knew you would recognize some of those old items. There are many more, but I did not photograph them all. New memories are being made in the new house, and I found a Lorikeet treat bar in Coles to put up near the bird bath. That should convince them to come by. xxx
DeleteVery glad you are more settled in now and you have your longed for bird bath! We love to feed our birds and the bright red cardinal is one of them! Truly enjoy you pointing out fashions to us. You know, i had never noticed how color coordinated the Royal Family tries to be either but now you point it out, I see it. I know there have always been rules about certain colors and styles not to wear. Megan Markle never understood that or else just ignored it. Anyway, happy new year! Your Christmas tree looks lovely, with special loved ornaments. xx
ReplyDeleteI love that you feed the cardinals. They are gorgeous birds. I am saving up to go back to Canada this year, as always on a quest to see another Cardinal. It might be the first time the royals have coordinated to this extent - I have not read about it anywhere but have never noticed it previously. Yes, MM was not keen to follow any of the rules, it seems :) xx
DeleteI love your charming Christmas decorations, Trish. I can’t believe how soon you and Mr. C. turned your new house into a home. So cozy and tasteful. Well done, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year,
Debbie
Thank you Debra. It is still a work in progress: I simply put the Christmas things out on arrival, and now have to actually find them a home lol. This week I am hanging a lot of the artworks we brought, and it makes the place seem more like our home. I do like cozy and tasteful :)
DeleteBeautiful photos and decorations. Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year to you ❤️ 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you. Happy New Year to you too!

ReplyDeleteIt's always fun to see the fashion of the Royals. I used to look at magazines that Diana was in. I loved to see her fashion. She was always so elegant and wore clothes with perfection. That's a nice bird bath you received for Christmas. Your pink tree is so pretty. I have another blog friend who had a pink tree for Christmas as well. And the Lorikeets are amazingly stunning. It's funny to hear you are enjoying the pool there when it's cold here and will get our first snow shortly. It sounds like a merry day with your family, and I'm glad you are settling in so nicely at your new home.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Patricia!
Hi Sheri. Glad you enjoyed the fashions and yes, Diana was wonderfully elegant, wasn't she. I like to try different colours each year for the Christmas tree, but this year pink was the first thing I unpacked, so pink it was! We like doing Facetime with our daughter at this time of year: we get to see her snow, and she can see us wilting in the Summer heat. It takes time to settle in, but we are getting there. Happy New Year Sheri!
