SPECIAL VISITORS

Hi there, just a quick update..

Happy times!
Our daughter and her two boys have arrived from Canada.
They have grown so much....
henceforth they will be known as H&M because those are their initials..

24 hours post-snow, they were into the pool...

Thanks to modern app technology, we watched their plane from Vancouver on our phones:

Follow the red plane - shortly after leaving the West coast of Canada, the midnight flight to Australia..

Are we anxious about the Corona virus?
Yes, I have never been so fearful - being in the vulnerable group in age and medical history, and hoping our visitors remain virus-free and safe.
Also that their flight home next week is not cancelled!

However, we are going ahead as planned for a short visit to the Gold Coast.
Armed with wipes, sanitizers, etc etc we hope the salt sea and air keep us well, and we can enjoy this special family time.

St Patrick's Day tomorrow:

Let's have some cheerful green to lighten the mood:

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, in Dublin recently.

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on her final appearance as a 'working Royal'.

Happy claps all round for the wearing of the green.

I baked some shamrock cookies, but can't seem to upload the pic.

Maybe later....

Chin up everyone, stay calm and keep washing hands.

  2. So lovely having your family visit! Love seeing those emerald green gowns on Kate...she’s looking gorgeous.
    Have fun with your family.
They will need to self isolate for 14 days on returning to Canada just to be safe. I heard in the UK that seniors over 70 were asked to self isolate for 4 months!!
Thank goodness for books, the garden and the internet for distractions.

    1. We are are so happy to have them here and the beach is beautiful. They know about the self isolate and our daughter who is a teacher has been advised of school closures so it will work out. The boys are learning about Australia and taking photos of wildlife . Most of my activities are also suspended so I will also isolate next week. Strange times for us all. Thank you for dropping by 🍀☘️

  3. Be safe my Red Cardinal friends! I must say, I wondered what might happen with your daughter's trip. Glad the family arrived without inconveniences, and you will enjoy each other's company. Who could have predicted a pandemic?

    1. We are doing our best but it is difficult and I find tiring to monitor every move when we go out the door. We are in a high unit opposite the beach which is great and the boys are swimming. Many of my usual activities are suspended so quiet times ahead. I can have a sew-cation 😍

  4. So happy they arrived safely and are having a great time I'm sure. The Gold Coast is awesome - I stayed a couple of days in Broad Beach, best fish meals ever in those super restaurants - nice shops for clothes too!
Stay safe and well - enjoy this special chance to be together.

Our city was so quiet this morning when I had to drive in for my hair appt. (couldn't let that not happen - if I'm going to be sick it wont be with grey roots!!!!). Entire school system now closed down for who knows how long.

Thinking of you all - Mary

    1. Thank you Mary. We are near to Broadbeach in a unit opposite the beach. I had a long walk along the foreshore, just lovely. Beach activities today and a walk to my favourite fashion shops. Everyone is doing their best to stay safe. Wow, your entire school system closed! So far Australia has not done this but I suspect it is only a matter of time. Take care ☘️🍀☘️💚

  9. It's wonderful that you got to see your daughter and grandkids, Patricia. What fun they are having in the pool. Love all the green that Kate is wearing. And I really like Meghan's stylish outfit and hat. Your shamrock cookies sound Yummy.

I know you must be fearful with virus going around. I went to Ride Aid this morning to get a household item, then turned right around, and I thought I could wait. Better to stay home and be safe. But keep your faith strong, and I'll be thinking of my Australian friend. : )
