Greetings Dear Readers from beautiful Vienna.
The sun is shining and we are out and about, trying to cram a lifetime of memories into a few days:
Palaces and Princesses:
Fabulous Old Masters:
Pieter Brueghel 'The Hunters in the Snow' |
and the artists of the Vienna Secession:
Gustav Klimt is everywhere -
of course we went to see 'The Kiss' at the Belvedere:
It is possible I may have succumbed to the allure of a cheap souvenir scarf reproduction...
St Stephen's Cathedral, with its amazing tiled roof
We have eaten Strudel, and Schnitzel...
Taken a carriage ride, and enjoyed a jolly Strauss and Mozart concert in a Palace...
Mozart lived here, in a third floor apartment for about three years.
Now it is another of the dozens of fascinating museums in the City Centre.
Off to Berlin tomorrow....
Take care xxxx
Vienna is a wonderful elegant city, and has a lot of music museums too. Enjoy Berlin!
ReplyDeleteSadly we only have time for a few of the amazing museums Jenny. I do love the style and elegance and the thought of being where Beethoven and all the others trod!
DeleteYou are having a wonderful time in Vienna. Jess visited Vienna many years ago and really enjoyed herself. St Stephen's Cathedral is so historic.....and tall. The carriage ride sounds delightful, and those white horses are beauties. Love the little music sign on the grass. Be safe, and have fun in Berlin, Patricia.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
All all is delightful; we could enjoy a much longer time in beautiful Vienna!
DeleteGorgeous. I really hope to visit Vienna one day, meanwhile I've enjoyed your photos.

ReplyDeleteI hope you hummed the Vienna Waltz the whole time you were there. You know I would!
I did!!! How did you know 😍
DeleteHow lovely Patricia to hear from you in beautiful Vienna. I love the roof of St. Stephens Cathedral too, but the whole of Vienna is a feast for the eyes. Enjoy your next stop in Berlin, plenty more wonderful things for you to see and do there too.
ReplyDeleteYes that roof certainly captivated me Rosemary. I walked back for a final look just before we went to the airport. Day 1 in Berlin today.

ReplyDeleteHi Patricia!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly are soaking up the local culture way over there....
Safe journey home!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Hi Linda, I am a veritable sponge when it comes to a new culture :) Cheers to you too.
DeleteFound you through Debra Turner and am glad I did. Last July/August we were in Bayreuth for the Wagner Festival, specifically to see the "Ring Cycle" -- a life-long dream finally fulfilled. I have not been to Vienna since I was 18 (almost five decades ago) and we are planning an opera trip there in November. Would love any advice you can give us.
ReplyDeleteCheers, M-T
Welcome to my blog, Marie-Therese. How wonderful to know your were at the Ring Cycle, and how I would love to have been there too! Some of the people on our latest tour were at that Ring Cycle - if you heard any Australians, they were probably them. Vienna was dreamy, and I am sure you will enjoy it so much. Our hotel was very close to the Opera House, although we did not attend a performance because we had many other operas in the following fortnight - see later blog posts. In Vienna we particularly enjoyed the Belvedere Palace with its collection of Klimt paintings, and Breugel Masterpieces.
DeleteHow wonderful Patricia - it sounds like a trip of a lifetime!
ReplyDeleteYou’re making memories that will stay with you forever!
Enjoy
Love Shane😘
Dear Shane, it was all quite magical, and we are so pleased we went on this long (for us) tour. We came home feeling very refreshed and healthy!
