I SEE THE MOON

A Super Moon is shining brightly tonight...

It must be a spectacular sight for people flying in a clear sky.
Can you see it at your place?

In other sky news, we have had a series of Summer Storms.
Dark clouds roll in during the afternoon....

The winds start to blow, and the thunder and lightning flash and boom.
Usually, there are power blackouts in various areas.

It has been dry for months;
the grass and garden will be happy with the extra watering.

A rare King Parrot visited our garden today.
They are shy birds, with beautiful brilliant red plumage..

Usually they travel in pairs.  Perhaps he will bring a mate tomorrow...

We have been watching 'Victoria', and loving it.
What a feisty young Queen she was.
Eventually she gave her name to an Era..

I would love to be watching 'The Crown', but we cannot get Netflix as we don't have highspeed internet.  Roll on National Broadband Network....

Have you watched either of these?  Enjoyed?

Poor New Zealand.
Another bad earthquake has hit the South Island.
We visited Christchurch in early 2011, shortly before the big quake which devastated much of that beautiful city.
The Cathedral (above) was largely ruined.

Thinking of you at this time, my friends across the Tasman Sea..

Christchurch had the most gorgeous hydrangeas - everywhere!

Stay safe, and have a good week.

  1. The super moon image is quite stunning and I always love to see the cardinals...darling daughter and her husband were awakened by the quake. They are currently honeymooning in NZ and currently are in Wellington on their way to Blenheim where family live. Hope the ferries are running and if not they will fly...scary watching the news from here and knowing they are so far away.

    1. How scary to be awakened by the quake. I do hope the honeymooners keep safe and find their way to family. As a mother, we always worry about family far away, don't we?

  2. I love how big the moon appeared where you are, Trish. I went outside early in New York City to see it, but it just looked like a regular full moon here. How did we miss out?

Beautiful King Parrot! My wish is that one day the colorful birds that visit your garden leaves you one of their colorful feathers.

    1. The big moon is back tonight, Debra. We are told it is 15% bigger than usual, and it certainly looks large to me! I'll speak to the parrots - they never leave me a feather :)

  3. The parrot is so beautiful! Our birds pale by comparison. I watched and enjoyed Victoria. Although I suspect much of it isn't historically accurate. I just finished The Crown and loved every minute of it. Perhaps you could go on a weekend getaway to somewhere with high speed internet and binge watch the series. It would be worth it!

    1. Ah, yes, we don't really know what Victoria and Albert said to each other in private, do we? :)
I am still trying to figure something re the Crown; possibly watching the whole thing on my phone...

  4. Patricia, is that snow already in your area? The King Parrot is a beautiful bird. What a sight that must have been. I see you put out some of your Christmas goodies, along with the pretty cardinal cup. I put out a few things also. Love decorating for Christmas.

Be careful with the storms around you, and stay warm, ok?

    love, ~Sheri

    1. No snow round here, Sheri. The snow was in Belgium on the WW1 battlefields which we visited.
I am putting up a few more Christmas decorations today - I think we are kindred souls in that department :)

  5. HI Patricia...
That photo of the moon and the plane is fantastic! Love it!
    Enjoy your week...
    Cheers!

    1. Hi Linda, I could not believe my luck - I stepped out on the deck with my camera, just in time to see that plane heading to the moon. A minute later and I would have missed it. Happy week to you too.

  6. Great moon shots. I was out on the patio in the wee hours of the morning a couple of days. The moon was so bright I think I could have read a newspaper by the light.

So sorry to hear about the NZ earthquake. We live in CA so earthquakes are oh to familiar.

    1. It certainly was bright Darla. We had to close the shutters to our bedroom windows to darken the room enough to sleep. Yes, CA has earthquakes too - is it the same fault line?

  7. The super moon looks amazing. Quite a sight. And the earthquakes are dreadful - just when people may be settling down with only dim memories of the last one. We are due to get NBN, and from what I have heard, as it is no longer fibre to the home, it is not as good as it could be. And very expensive. We have to change over soon - which means all sorts of new providers and so on. Quite a hassle. Although, sometimes stories are not always the truth - I hope that is the case, because I would like to watch The Queen as well!

    1. Yes, the NBN plan is not what is started out to be, and perhaps it never had a chance (although I am certainly no expert). New providers of Anything are such a hassle - it makes us long for the simple times of the past!
Hope we both get to see The Queen....eventually...

  8. Sorry I have been so late in visiting sweet Friend! I love catching up with you and seeing what you're up to on the other side of the world. ;)
Boy did I enjoy that super moon when it was here! I gazed endlessly in the evenings and timed Ruby walks to watch it rise.
Now, as you have summer storms, we have snow and cold. Winter has decided to arrive on my northwoods door step. The bay is even getting its first layer of ice. And so it goes here in the north.
Blessings and prayers to your neighbors dealing with the quake aftermath!
We're gearing up for Thanksgiving this Thursday! Must find my nice stretchy pants. Gobble Gobble. Lol

    1. Hi Carrie, thank you for your lovely comments. I know you have snow and cold over there - my daughter has been posting snow pictures! Keep warm and cosy and enjoy the beauty of it. We are having such hot days, snow sounds a delight. Happy Thanksgiving - love your menu as seen on your blog :)

  9. I have been hearing so many people rave about The Crown. Adding it to the list of watch when I have more time.

  11. I too was sad about Christchurch. I visited 2 years ago and the gardens were absolutely wonderful. They are very resilient people there but I am sorry that they have to go through this.
I didn't see the supermoon. It was too cloudy here!!

  13. HGH is often referenced as a increase booster. This is not unexpected thinking about that HGH refers back to the Human growth Hormone. And the Human boom Hormone may be appropriately defined as a growth booster because it's miles. For more ==== >>>>>> http://musclegainfast.com/ion-z/
