SERENITY AND RELIEF

So let's start with this amazing drawing of a Lego guy, executed with deft talent and precision by our 5 year old Canadian grandson, H.
He is without a doubt destined for a fine career in the arts, and a very bright future.
Would a proud Grannie not be right?

In case you are wondering, I am still sewing from time to time.
This is the start of an experiment involving a pure wool tweed and some black faux leather.  I found the 'leather' much easier to work with, and sew, than I anticipated.  Thank goodness.
Far too many things end in the Land of Stuff-ups...

Front of winter dress taking shape.
The sleeves will be 3/4 length in the wool.
Better get on with it, Winter being so short and sweet hereabouts.

We have been away for a few days on family business at Harvey Bay, along the coast north of Brisbane.

Driving past the sugar cane fields, just on sundown.

Spent a peaceful morning wandering the beach at Urangan, while Mr C attended to the business at hand.

Needed some solitude, and contemplation time, following my annual mammogram and cancer check this week.
A shadow on a scan, 3mm in size, and a biopsy to be sure all is well.

Yes, all OK, I found out today.
The problem patch is part of the internal injuries I sustained in our car accident in 2011.  Nature is still trying to heal those injuries.

No Mr Bad Guy for 2015!!
Thank you Lord...

The last time I walked this beach I was a child...

Our family camped in a tent, among these trees by the shore.
Those old beachside camping grounds have largely disappeared along the Queensland coast.

Me and my Mum.
I remember that little red polka-dot swimsuit, which she made just for me.

Have a sweet week.
Blessings.

  2. Pffft, glad all is well with you after some worrying days. That drawing of your grandchild is so cute and colourful. I'm impressed of the views of the coast north of Brisbane, love it. My eldest daughter was a long time ago as backpacker in Australia and stayed some time in Brisbane before travelling to Cairns.

    1. Thank you Janneke. Isn't that a great drawing? So proud of the little one. I hope your daughter enjoyed herself in Brisbane and Cairns. There are many backpackers who come to Queensland, often working on fruit picking, etc.

  3. What a sweet post, Ms. Patricia! I love seeing a bit of Brisbane. It looks to be a beautiful part of the country. I also hope to see that winter dress of yours once it is finished.

    1. Hi Debra, The beach was a quiet part of the coast, and more appealing for that. No crowds, just gentle waves lapping the sands. The winter dress is coming on well, hope to finish over the weekend.

  6. " Winter being so short and sweet hereabouts ". Sigh. I wish I could say the same.
Congratulations for receiving clean papers! Oh, those check-ups are always so frightening. And the waiting for the results in some cases. Horrible time.
The scenery is so exotic looking from the outside. Beautiful. Sigh again.

    1. I love that term: 'clean papers'! Yes, that is what I want to receive, every year :) So fun to think of our beach scenery as exotic - we think it is rather mundane, if restful, but to visit Europe - now that is exotic!

  7. I'm sorry I am late replying. I am pleased your report was clear - always a shadow in the back of the mind. And a reminder why it is important to enjoy the small moments of life everyday. Overall, you have had a wonderful week - lovely family time, nice walks and scenery, and what a great little picture. An engineer maybe?

    1. Thank you Sarah, So true, a reminder to enjoy the moment, every day. Hmmm, a little engineer is quite a possibility - I hadn't thought of that, but there are a few engineers in the family. It will be fun watching the little ones choose their way in life.

  9. Dear Patricia - your check up appointments must be a stressful time for you until you get that all important envelope with the all clear. I am sure that you must then feel a great sense of relief. Delighted for you that the news turned out to be good.
Great drawing of the Lego guy from Canada, and I remember my Mum knitting me a bathing costume - it was white with a red starfish on the front. When I went into the sea the red ran into the white, and the costume sagged and drooped showing bits that I would rather not have shown!

    1. Thank you Rosemary - this is the first time I have had this happen to my accident injury, so it gave me quite a fright. Yes, quite a relief all is well.
I love that your Mum knitted you a bathing costume, and yours was also red and white - we are twins! No wonder you remember what happened in the water - such memories stay with us for life. Your poor Mum must have been mortified too.

  10. Patricia, I'm so relieved to hear all is well with you. The colorful drawing that your grandson made is so very special. And he can really draw at 5! What a beautiful view of the ocean. I would love to walk on this beach and see all the seagulls and feel the sand beneath my feet. And the picture of you and your mom is a treasure. How nice that your mom sewed clothes for you, like this little polka dot bathing suit. My mom also sewed and I'll always remember all the things she made for me.

Have a wonderful week, Patricia. It's getting hot here, and supposed to be in the 100's this week.

    love, ~Sheri

    1. Glad you like the Lego man, Sheri. Yes, our little H is quite a talent with drawing - has been colouring in since he was barely two. The beach was so serene, with no people around. You would love it too! Oh, that is hot - in the 100s - I hate it when that happens here. Keep cool my friend :) xx
