EASTER FROLICS

Hello, dear little chocolatty bunnies, Readers

I hope you had a fabulous Easter...

We two cardinals fled both the city and the crowds at the beach and braved the wet weather to perch high on a hilltop north of Brisbane...

A rainbow greeted us on arrival at our B&B...

and these:

along with entrancing views of the Glasshouse Mountains *...

despite the rain...

We visited the local township of Maleny - 5 bookshops in the main street!

enjoyed the many art galleries..

bought fabric..

dined on fish with rose petals..

and loved the wisteria.

Now we all know the best part of the B&B is the second B, don't we?

Souffle was divine..

Easter eggs on Easter Sunday...

They have lorikeets there too -
and, according to our lovely hosts, who warned us to keep the screen doors closed, also possums, pythons, and scrub turkeys.
Just like home..

Misty Easter morn, before the mountains emerged..

Close up of one of these rocky edifices, captured on the way home..
* The Glasshouse mountains were named by Captain Cook on his voyage of discovery up the Queensland coast in 1770.

This fellow followed me ..
I'm calling him Maleny..

Thank you all for your lovely Easter greetings on my previous two posts.
I enjoyed receiving and reading them, and am forever grateful for all the friendships I have found in the Land of Blog.

I hope your Easter was also delightful.

xxxx

  1. Hello Patricia,

This all sounds and looks to have been truly delightful. Just the perfect combination of glorious scenery, interesting places to explore and delicious food to nurture and comfort. Often, we find, these short breaks are so wonderfully restorative. They do not require much in the way if preparation and they are all the more relaxing because of it.

From time to time it is so important to live at a gentler pace and this sounds to have been the perfect way to do just that.

    1. Hello Jane and Lance, you are absolutely right in every respect...the short break was indeed gently restorative, the better because it was a last-minute decision to go. In a way, because we are off on another very rigorous, long-distance journey in a few weeks, this was the perfect choice at this time.

  2. Trish, what a wonderful place to be and enjoy! So glad you had a good time, and rain doesn't dampen the spirits when you are getting away, right?

    1. The rain was not a problem at all, Linda (except we did not see that great view with a blue sky). It was all very enjoyable.

  3. What a gorgeous getaway! The views are amazing, and it looks like the B&B was a lovely place to stay. It all sounded great until I read the word "python." :-)

    1. Ha, I was not so happy re the python either, Kristie. The jungle was right beside our balcony, as you can see in the picture. At home, we have a regular garden and only see snakes occasionally. But it was a gorgeous place!

    1. Hello Mette. We had a really nice Easter at this destination, one we have not seen for a long time. The scenery is very much a tropical location, so yes, would be very different for you. The fabric shop was a great find, and I purchased a beautiful piece of black/white wool for winter :)

    1. Hi Amy, yes, it was a great Easter break. I did enjoy the lovely food (every meal was a treat). The area is lush and fertile, and we had yoghurt from the local dairy, and other local produce. Yum, indeed! Loved seeing the little bunnies waiting in our room :)

  7. Patricia, I am amazed every time I see the lorikeets in your area. They are spectacular! The B & B sounds very nice, and what a delicious breakfast you had. It rained a bit here too this Easter weekend. I believe that when we see a rainbow, it is a gift, so I just received a gift on your blog today, thank you.

I hope you had a very nice Easter, Patricia.

    love, ~Sheri

    1. Hi Sheri, the lorikeets are always spectacular. There were three feeding stations at the B&B, and each was covered with birds. The rainbow was a special gift on arrival: it heralded a lovely Easter weekend. Glad you enjoyed my post. xx

  9. It was just the break we needed, Val. We came back rejuvenated, ready for a few weeks of hard work before our big trek to Canada. We haven't been up to that area for about eight years, and it was a pleasure to see it all again. Maleny is very nice these days.

  10. Happy Easter! I'm glad you had such a nice, restful time away. It looks really beautiful there. I'm amazed to see wisteria blooming there because my wisteria is blooming here right now! Is it a fall flower there? Mine is just outside my front door, growing on the beams over the courtyard, and when I go outside the smell just envelops me, it's amazing. Thanks for sharing your break, have a good week!

    1. Thank you Jennifer. The wisteria was blooming up in the mountains because it is cooler there. It blooms in Brisbane during the winter months - like many other flowers! Our summers are too hot for them. I love wisteria too but have not succeeded in growing it at our house, although it is in our neighborhood. Today is our first real Fall day - nicely cool. I will be able to plant pansies soon :)

  11. What an amazing landscape. Not at all how I picture Australia (although I've never been). We did have those chocolate bunnies here in the UK too. The kids loved them.

    1. It is an unusual (and popular) landscape, Katharine. Those rocky hills are very striking, and can be seen from out at sea. It is not far from the coast. It is a sub-tropical area with good rainfall, so quite lush. The chocolate bunnies seem to have encircled the world, happily. Hope you had a nice Easter!

I love to escape the city too every now and then - some solace for the soul!
The Lindt bunnies are a favourite in our house too!
Are you coming my way some time soon Patricia - or have I got that wrong? Please let me know.

  16. Cor what an enchanting place! I had never somehow imagined it being like that near Brisbane. It looks like the Canary Islands to me (obviously wrong birds but you know what I mean) :D It looks like a wonderful b&b.

    1. Hello Jenny, I will have to check our the Canary Island now :) The mountains are cool and very fertile, consisting of many extinct volcanos. They were settled for dairying in the early days, but these are largely gone, and it became a very pretty tourist area.
