Hello, yes, I'm still in the land of the living, just been taking it easy for a week or so.
We have celebrated Mother's Day here in Australia -
note the little white posy Mr C brought home from church.
And the pot of chrysanthemums he gave me...
(there was a pink one too)
Sunday morning brought more delights -
the Perfect Skype with our dear daughter in Ottawa
Her two little boys entertained us with various renditions of Twinkle Twinkle.
The Little Bebe said his word for us: 'Mama', and gave us an adorable smile.
Then we flew over to our younger son's place, where he produced waffles on his new waffle iron...
followed by this perfect example of Eggs Benedict.
(He certainly did not learn to cook so well from his Mum)
Isn't it wonderful when your children grow up to become accomplished and pleasant adults?
Our daughter sent this pretty card with a fashion theme,
cute blue bird napkin holder,
and a make-up bag with my initial.
She is very good at choosing gifts I love.
Thank you all so much for your lovely and supportive comments on my last post, following my recent trip to hospital.
I am feeling much better now, and regaining my strength and fitness.
Back on the pleasant daily walk routine, where I found these trails of bougainvillia this morning.
Mr C and I have been for coffee at the Wild Canary, a great new cafe recently opened in a plant nursery in our area.
With a bird-name like that, they can't go far wrong.
The food is mouth-watering - so good that I forgot to take picture!
There is a large kitchen garden adjacent to the cafe, and we saw a chef go out to harvest herbs - fresh to the plate...
The area is semi-rural, and has a lovely relaxed country feeling..
Love all the garden ornaments for sale, but they are mighty expensive.
I suspect they want to keep them all for themselves!
Off to the Art Gallery this week...
Keep warm

Hello Patricia,
ReplyDeleteIt is not luck that one's children turn out to be pleasant and well adjusted, in our experience it us down to a gret deal of hard work on the parts of their parents. It is a credit to you and your husband that you can now delight in the company of your children. And, what thoughtful gifts and delicious food you received for Mother's Day. Just the thing to lift your spirits!
The Garden Centre looks to be a lovely place to enjoy coffee/tea. How perfect to enjoy delicious food and quiet relaxation amongst the plants. This sounds to be just our kind of place.
Keep taking care!
Thank you Jane and Lance for your kind thoughts about our parenting. Yes, a lot of hard work, and sometimes we simply followed our instincts. We are proud of our three children who have established their own lives now. Visiting a garden centre always brings me pleasure and relaxation, and the cafe is certainly in a beautiful setting.
DeleteWhat a lovely weekend! The new coffee spot looks delightful, I imagine that you will be returning! Glad that you are feeling well and enjoying a relaxing return to your normal self. xx
ReplyDeleteYes, I think we have found a great spot for ourselves, for entertaining and meeting friends. Getting back to normal, and finding pleasure in the simple things I love. xx
DeleteWhat a delightful post, the garden centre looks a lovely place to visit.
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that all of your family cosseted with flowers, gifts, and delicious food - you deserve it♡
Thank you Rosemary, life is returning to normal - more normal than it was meant to be this week, as we are not, of course, flying out to Italy. I love garden centres, which always lift my spirits, and of course I brought home a little something - a wee succulent.
DeleteIt's so nice to hear you are making a speedy recovery from your surgery, Patricia. I'm glad you had a nice Mother's Day. I agree about it being wonderful to see our kids grow up into such fine adults. And isn't Skype a great invention? It's a grandparent's dream technology! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Kristie, yes, I am getting more energy each day, thankfully. I can see that your children are very fine adults too - makes us proud mother's doesn't it? Skype is great - as long as the little ones cooperate. We have learnt now that if someone falls and bumps the head, it is best to wave bye bye and close down :)
DeleteI'm glad to hear that you're doing well, Patricia. It looks like you had a lovely Mother's Day. I hope your recovery continues smoothly and you feel better every day.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, Like you, I had a lovely Mother's Day. It brings back memories too of Mother's Days gone by when the whole extended family gathered for my mother's special day. Our children remember the great family picnic for about 35 people we used to have.
DeleteHappy to hear you can get back to your walks. You probably know I think walking is good therapy for more than just the exercise. The blue and white china caught my eye but I enjoyed hearing about and seeing everything else too.
ReplyDeleteDarla
Walking is key, and I agree 100% about the extra benefits. I was a right misery last week until I got back into the exercise routine! Now I think I am quite fine. Went back to the gallery today and loved it.
DeleteI have never tasted a waffle, your son made those eggs? I cannot poach an egg to save my life.
ReplyDeleteTabitha, I think that was my first ever waffle. Quite a unique taste sensation, best kept for celebratory occasions, methinks. To my surprise, with the precision of the rocket scientist he is irl, our son cracked the eggs into silicone muffin cups, then let them gently into and under the boiling water - without burning his fingers! I was impressed...
DeletePatricia,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear of your good health news. It sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day. I love that little statue. I wish I had one for my garden. You know, eggs benedict is one of Nel's favorite breakfast dishes.
Have a happy week, Patricia.
love,
~Sheri
Dear Sheri, I love a garden statue but they do tend to cost a lot. I wish I had it in my garden too. Love eggs benedict, especially with smoked salmon - Yum!
DeleteA pampered Mother's Day and a gentle convalescence with pleasant walks and visits - just what the doctor ordered, Patricia. :-) I know just what you mean about the sheer pleasure of seeing our children become likeable and competent adults. It makes all the hard work and worry worthwhile.
ReplyDeletePampering is lovely, just the best on Mother's Day, Perpetua. You are so right, the work and worry are definitely worth the end result of happy and competent, self-sufficient adults, some of whom are parents themselves. The best of life's achievements.
DeleteA lovely Mother's day Trish. Glad to hear you are being kind to my friend. Your new found Cafe sounds and looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLovely and gentle Mother's Day, with no extra exercise involved. One day you will have to come over this way and I'll take you to the garden/cafe. I know you would like it!
DeleteSounds like you had a lovely Mothers day, your breakfast looks so very tasty. What a nice place for coffee.
ReplyDeleteYes, a lovely day. Just as well I can't cook a breakfast like that, because I would do it every day and be as big as a house!

ReplyDeleteIt seems that you are up to your normal activities already. Remember to rest too.
ReplyDeleteAll your children and grandchildren sent you their greetings. The skype is a good thing for you. I have never skyped, but a lot of people have and like it. Perfect for you!
So you too had Mother´s Day on Sunday.
A belated greeting from the top!
I love a greeting from the top of the world!
DeleteNo need for you to skype when today is beautiful baby day, Mette..hope you have the best day.
My brain wants to go back to normal, but I think I overdid it yesterday. Oops...
So so happy for you; you deserve all these presents ! xoxo
