A little bit of rain, and a little less heat, and the Garden of Neglect begins to shine once more...
Little Aussie has been to visit for a few days,
which gladdens the hearts of we old grandfolks..
His swimming is coming on a treat..
Then there is the cooking:
Rustic they may be, but these are his chocolate dinosaurs:
eaten while watching these guys:
We went to see the animals:
Cai Guo-Qiang's Heritage at the GoMA
Aussie was impressed; he loves animals.
I bought him a little giraffe at the Gallery shop, and when we came home this is what we played:
I've been off to the sewing group at lovely R's place -
Pom poms were the order of the day:
'cept I didn't know, so I wore my latest sew, DKNY Vogue V1250 :
I loved this jersey fabric, but am a bit underwhelmed by the finished dress.
On the plus side however, it is cool and easy to wear when the heat is soaring up into the mid- 30s C..
Fifty years ago this week Beatlemania hit the USA, and the world.
Seems just like last week.
I had a crush on Paul.
Who did you love?
The Red Cardinal clicked past 40,000 pageviews the other day.
This milestone was sullied by a weekend attack from the Sinister Creeps of Spam, who bombarded me every few minutes with idiotic madness on old posts.
So I've had to turn on the Word Verification. Sorry folks, I'll leave it a week or so then check how things are going.
Also approaching will be my 300th post.
I am planning another giveaway - stay tuned!

Dear Patricia - if you set comments moderation to 7 or 14 days you can then intercept them and send them to spam. Once they have been sent to spam they will automatically go there in the future.
ReplyDeleteLovely that you had Little Aussie staying. All young children seem to love dinosaurs even the girls.
Love his and your interpretation of Cai Guo-Qiang's artwork.
Thank you Rosemary, I think I have it sorted now and the spam traffic has slowed to a trickle. It's a funny thing about the dinosaurs these days; we knew about them as children but they weren't popular characters then. I have a feeling we will be making the animal lake every visit for the next few months :)
DeleteIt looks like you had a very nice time with your grandson! And I'm so glad the temperatures are going down. Interesting that you were using pom pom trim with your sewing project. I don't know about in the sewing world, but in the knitting world pom poms come in and out of fashion. Right now they are definitely in. Quite a few of the athletes hats were sporting them in the opening ceremonies in Sochi.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday dear Kristie! xx
DeleteI think the sewing world is definitely getting the pom pom vibe, possibly from the knitters of the world. I watched the athletes march, but missed the pom pom hats. Must have another look!
Nice photos of special times with Little Aussie. I am not a fan of Pom poms but I do love the look of those fabrics on the table. I liked Paul best but thought John so cool!
ReplyDeletePaul was the universal favourite, wasn't he? There is a stage play about John Lennon, developed in Australia years ago, 'Looking Through a Glass Onion', and returning to Brisbane in a week or so. Those fabrics are for my French themed quilt, a combination of friendship blocks and my own creations. The 2014 project.
DeleteI am so sorry that you have had the spammers that makes me so cross!! I have word verification on and although I get a little bit, it is few and far between now. I love all your grandsons animals in their circle on the table, his day out obviously had a big impact! I hope that the plants are enjoying the weather and that it is a little better for you. Happy pom pom's! xx
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the word verification! We will be playing animals at the lake for a few months, I suspect. Of course after lining them up beautifully for a drink, he tossed them all in for a swim! I feel a pom pom attack coming on :)
DeleteIt looks like you're having a nice time with him. I love pompoms, how cute! Hmm...I wasn't around for Beatlemania, but I would have to go with George. I like the quiet ones. :) Hey, I just noticed that "Beatlemania" did not alert the spellchecker in the comment field area, so it must be an officially-recognized word, maybe in the dictionary. That's really neat. :)
ReplyDeleteGeorge was my second fave, Jennifer - quiet and deep :)
DeleteBeatlemania is definitely a real word - in the 60s it was on everybody's lips and in every printed publication! The world went quite crazy about the fab four.
Your plants are just magazine worthy, Patricia! Lovely, and as for those chocolate dinosaurs…! Love the dress, by the way and congratulations at 40,000 views. I've been blogging a few years longer than you and I'm not much further ahead on the views, so well done you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Val, the dinosaurs were made from a fancy cutter I bought in Canada, designed to turn a sandwich into two dinos. The dress looks quite under-watery to me, with all that swirling in the designs - a Watery Way dress :) Now the spammers have struck, it tends to make the views rather meaningless, which is sad. Have a great book launch!
DeleteYour visit with your grandson sounds fabulous. It includes everything I like - cooking, museums, TV, and a swimming pool, plus the cutest boy ever!
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is just great and keeps the dress from being boring.
Thanks Beryl, funny how we manage to work the grandson round what we like - he he. Thanks re the fabric - I loved it at first sight!
DeleteIt looks like you had a great time with Little Aussie. My own little Leo enjoys baking with me too which is such fun. Well Patricia I too was a Paul McCartney fan - I think I was the biggest!! My favourite song at the time was his "Till there was you". If I hear that tune today I'm right back in the sixties and remember all that was going on at that time in my life. Oh such memories.
ReplyDeletePatricia x
Oh, yes, Patricia - I even had the sheet music to 'Till there was you' with Paul's photo on the front! Has the same effect on me too... Great memories, difficult to explain to our own children.
DeleteHappy baking! x
Mmm, chocolate dinosaurs. :-) You obviously have such fun with Little Aussie and are giving him a store of wonderful memories. Those flower colours are so vibrant they make me feel warmer just looking at them.
ReplyDeleteOh, the Beatles - very much my favourite group back then, though I didn't have an individual favourite among them. For me the memories come flooding back with any of the songs on the Rubber Soul album. Those were the days... :-)
Chocolate dinosaurs were very delish - had to throw the remainder away because could not stop 'tasting' them...
DeleteThose were the days indeed, and seems we all hold special Beatle memories. Looking forward to the 50th concert which is being shown on Australian TV tonight :)))
