LOTS OF AUTUMN AND A BIT OF ROYAL FASHION

Deer and Red Cardinal by Miss V.

Hello..

The talented V, aka 'Lovely V in Paris' these days,
painted some woodland creatures.
Are they not gorgeous?

We cardinals meantime flew away for a mountain-top weekend in Toowoomba,
Queen City of the Darling Downs, west of Brisbane.

The public art was imaginative...

and the climate cool enough to produce Autumnal glory...

Their Japanese Garden is stunning:

So poetic...

Toowoomba's floral emblem is the violet...

and therein lies justification for a small souvenir...

We over-nighted in an Historic House B&B..

with historic swans...

and lots of antiques, including:

A print of my very favourite portrait of Her Majesty in her Australian Wattle Dress and brooch....much shared on this blog.

And here is the birthday girl, still smiling in yellow after a week of celebrations for her 90th birthday, going out every day to Ascot.
Her stamina is absolutely amazing.  Well done Your Majesty.

I liked Kate's Ascot hat too..

and her perfection in Mother/Daughter pretty in pink combination;

Oh, and the sweetness of pale blue with white lace...

and over in Northern Ireland for the day, a Wild Irish Rose hat...
(Did I mention I will have a new Irish daughter-in-law soon?)

And this one for the little girl in every one of us who ever wished for a pair of stunning red shoes:

Ah.....

Wear red and be joyful.

XXXXX

    1. Thank you Amy. I wonder how they keep it up, all those days out one after the other, and all looking so beautifully put together. I am loving all their new looks, and Kate is going from better to better!

  2. You weekend trip to the mountain-top in Toowoomba looks very inviting especially in its autumn colours.
Until I clicked onto the lily photo I thought that it was a new and exotic species that I did not know about!
It doesn't seem to matter what Kate wears, she could probably get away with putting on an old sack on, and still look OK.
Did you see the Queen in her neon green and shocking pink outfits last weekend?

    1. I do love going to a cold climate, as Mr C has noted. We have done all the local ones in the last couple of years, so he has to take me back to England now :)
Yes, saw the Queen in the neon green, but I missed the shocking pink. Wow, what a way to celebrate being 90. She really is amazing, and gives encouragement to us all to wear what we like and don't be lured into blandness!

  3. Well said Val. So much fun to see the Queen wearing that neon green suit - it would have to be a first for her. Bring on the eccentric, I say :)

    1. It has been a great week for Queen watchers. Hope you saw some of it in the states. I think the Queen will need a good rest next week, but she has amazing stamina. Glad you enjoyed!

  5. Beautiful photos Trish! Those gardens were stunning, and had all the colors of Fall. ;)

I love the fashion show as well! They are some stylish folks and I wish I could dress like that - wouldn't it be fun? But it wouldn't quite fit for my day to day here. Lol

Always enjoy catching up with you dear Lady. ;) xoxo

    2. Thank you Carrie, glad you are seeing the Right Royal fashion show too. They do know how to stand out in a crowd. Rarely do we mere mortals get to dress up like that - but I am hoping to make the most of the upcoming wedding in that department :)

  6. What a beautiful, happy post, Patricia. I loved seeing those gardens, how stunning. The fashions were fun to see as well. I think Kate always looks so beautiful and now that little girl is taking after her mom, always looking lovely in her photos. I hope you're doing well. Have a good weekend!

    1. Thank you Jennifer, Trying to find my happy once more, although it slips away now and then...still, its not three weeks yet.
Nothing sweeter than a mother/daughter combo, and Kate is obviously enjoying it very much indeed. No denim for Princess Charlotte, at least not yet.

  7. Hello Patricia,...glad you had a nice weekend away, it probably did your spirits good. We passed through Toowoomba for lunch and toilet stop once, looked an interesting place. Maybe one day we can spend some time there - and other parts of QLD. And yes, Her Majesty is amazing - as you say, such stamina. She must be glad that this week is over.

    1. Toowoomba is a nice old-fashioned city, and has the most amazing Carnival of Flowers in September. It was good to take a break with all the drama we've had recently.
I'm sure the Queen will be having a quiet weekend at home too.

  10. Patricia,
The Japanese Garden is so pretty, and I love that red bridge. What a great picture. I want to put that picture on my computer screen, if you don't mind. It's so peaceful and lovely. That historic swan looks so old and beautiful. What a nice picture of William and Kate, and the Wild Irish Rose hat she's wearing in the other pic is delightful. Oh my, love that red outfit. Yes, the little girl in us always loves red shoes. :)

Have a blessed weekend, my friend.

    1. Dear Sheri, I would be very happy if you put my garden picture on your computer screen - fame in the USA!
I would have loved to bring that swan home with me; unfortunately, it was not for sale. Happy Sunday Sheri - it is pouring rain here, most unusual :) xx

  11. Lovely artwork, and Toowoomba looks great. I liked the Queen's lime green outfit at her 90th. That really is something! Do you know the poem about "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple"? It made me think of that!

    1. Hello Jenny, Yes! I do know that poem, and in fact I thought of it too in regard to the Queen this week. She is having so much fun with colour. Did you see the bright blue and orange at Ascot? Absolute bravery :)
