A SPECIAL VISITOR

The snow bush is in bloom once more at the Red Cardinal nest...
which means that it is May, and Winter must be just around the corner.

Happy times - Little Aussie has been here for a few days.
A big boy, now goes to school, and likes to kick a ball...

Thank goodness he still likes Lego, which is something this Grannie can understand.

We watched the Lego Movie - and then did some scene recreations...

Of course, the Star Wars Lego is never far away..

Aussie went to the recent stage production of The Sound of Music in Brisbane..
and he loved it!
In a flash I had found my old piano scores of most of the songs.

We sang all weekend... The Lonely Goatherd, Favourite Things, Do Ray Me..
But his personal best is to sing to me
'My heart will be blessed, with the Sound of Music,
and I'll sing, once, more'.

Bless his sweet little heart.

He arrived with a ukulele - and has started lessons!

It was quite the musical extravaganza this weekend...

although we did fit in some random cake decorating.

Have you seen the new Princess Charlotte chrysanthemum?
So Pretty.  I hope it turns up at our local plant nursery.

Sorry, couldn't resist this...

Have a great week

    1. I do hope he likes it here, Kristie. We try to do something interesting each time, so he doesn't get bored. There may be challenges as he gets older, but we will hang in there :)

  2. The snowbush is an interesting looking flower, but you know what Patricia1! it really does not look like winter coming with little Aussie still running around clad in shorts and shirt.
Long my you continue to enjoy these happy days of singing together and playing Leggo, the time passes by so quickly

    1. Our version of winter really seems to be cold mornings which quickly rise to mild temps during the day. The rare time it is cold all day means great excitement, and the finding of coats and scarves.
We do enjoy the musical days Rosemary. He want to be a conductor now, and directs us all in his musical whimsies. We will need to find a baton next!

  3. It looks like you have been busy entertaining and being entertained by the little Aussie...I feel that there is nothing better than to be in the company of our wee grandchildren.
Ours are still playing with DuPlo the larger blocks but when they are ready for Lego we have a huge bin full!

    1. So true Lesley, nothing better than the company of the sweet grandies. Unfortunately these events are usually few and far between for us, but we make the most of it when we can. Yesterday we went and found the DuPlo again and mixed it in with the rest of it. It all works well together, the magic of the Lego system.

  4. You must be a very favourite gran, Patricia. How lovely, that little Aussie likes to sing along and learn his Uke :) And how good of you to help build lego as you do. I wish summer was coming here as clearly as winter is there, but enjoy the cooler weather!

    1. To be honest, I think I am second favourite gran, but I can handle that! He seems to like being here which is wonderful. Our winter is giving hints, but not being very serious. Min. 7 deg C today, nice and cool but heading to a Max of 29! You can hardly call that Autumn :)

  5. Oh my goodness, how Little Assuie has grown! No I didn't see the young Princess' new flower. It's lovely.

Tricia, you are heading into winter, but we have not yet had a proper spring. I'm looking forward to the sunny days.

    1. Yes, he grows like a weed, Debra, and looking for food. Must be a growth spurt. I only found that flower yesterday and isn't it pretty, as well as unusual.
So your Spring is being as contrary as our Autumn...hmm, must be the global warming effect or something..

  6. Love that mum named for Princess Charlotte, I want one! (The flower, I mean, I am too common for the Princess!)
And I love Lego AND The Sound of Music! I must admit that I know every single word of the lyrics, every single word! :-)

    1. I want one too Kay! It is really prety.
When our daughter was small she played the Sound of Music video constantly, and now I also know Every Single Word of it. Thank goodness it stands the test of time and can still be enjoyed. Funny though, the little guy didn't like it when I started a heavy rendition of Climb Every Mountain on the piano :)

    1. Such a joy Linda - you are so blessed to have Miss V so regularly. Snow and hail!! The climate has gone a bit nuts lately. Although we have a taste of winter mornings, the maximum still zooms up, 29C today. I have to change outfits through the day!

  8. It looks like you had a wonderful time with Little Aussie. He is getting tall! He looks so much bigger now. Your snowball bush is lovely. I think it's nice that its flowering heralds winter, though I have to imagine snow is rare in your area. I hope it cools down soon for you. I also hope you're over your recent illness now. Enjoy your week, Patricia.

    1. Yes, he is getting tall, and big Jennifer. How time flies. Thank you, I am over my illness and had some energy to join in the fun. I don't think snow has ever fallen here, although it is known about three hours away inland. Wouldn't it be amazing if it suddenly came one day! The weird way the weather goes these days, anything is possible :)

  11. It's nice to hear that little Aussie is taking ukulele lessons. My son plays the guitar a bit, and it's great to have a musical talent. The snow bush is very pretty, and I can't believe that winter is on its way there in May. We are still in spring and getting ready for the hot summer days. The Princess Charlotte chrysanthemum is gorgeous. The color is a soft pink with yellow tips and looks like a vintage flower, very pretty. Oh, I wish I could have one of those cupcakes to go with my tea right now, they look so Yummy.

    Have a wonderful week, Patricia.

    love, ~Sheri
