THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME

Greetings!
The Red Cardinals have returned home to roost ....
A nightmare flight across the States from Montreal to L.A. due to the inclement weather ...
Then just before midnight, found ourselves aboard a good old Qantas 747,
clicked my heels, put on the comfy Qantas PJs', tucked myself up and went to sleep.

Didn't watch any movies, and before you know it, breakfast was being served, and the coast of South East Queensland became visible through the window!

It was absolutely wonderful to spend time with our daughter and her family in Ottawa, and we were sad to leave, but it is always good to come back home.

We had one special event before we left:
the Little Bebe's Baptism.
I made lots of little posies of lily-of-the-valley and forget-me-nots.
The baby was wonderful at church, a picture in white satin who charmed everyone, and accepted being handed around and having water poured over his head.
What a little trouper!

Later, there was cake, and a party...

Back into play clothes with big brother, wearing their outfits made by moi..
pirate shorts, and blue elephant romper pants.

Little Bebe learned to sit up while we were there.
We modestly claim all credit for this amazing feat!

As usual after a holiday, I have been washing for 3 days while unpacking a rather large collection of Canadian purchases.

Ironing's all done - am I the only weirdo who actually likes this task?
I think it has something to do with loving textiles, sewing, and generally caring for clothes.

Goody, the $10 bunch of roses special is on again at Coles.
Which is just as well, because the Garden of Neglect is quite the mess after our trip away.  In fact it deserves a post of its own.

Bought a few things in Ottawa - because I could!

A bit of Picasso going on in this jacket..

Emerald stripe top from Banana Republic..

My favourite thing is this trench-coat - I have wanted one for years!
It is cool and wet right now, so I think it will debut tomorrow...

I bought way too many things at the Dollar Tree store - nothing over $1.25!!

From Notre Dame in Montreal - their beautiful choir -
and the morning after we came home, I sang with my ladies choir in a concert.
A bit of jet-lag now and then didn't spoil my enjoyment...

There really is No Place Like Home

Have a lovely week

    1. Hello Helen, The flight is 13.5 hours, so to be civilized is essential! I slept for about 9 hours of it. The Christening was a wonderful end to the trip. xx

  2. Happy to see you made it back to the nest safely. How special that you were there for the Baptism. I actually like ironing too - so now there are two of us. Shall we form an odd little club? LOL!

  3. I am glad you had such a wonderful time in Canada with your family. It must have been very, very hard to leave those grandchildren behind. Hopefully you made enough memories to last you until the next time you come visit. And I agree, no matter how wonderful the trip it is always nice to be home. Crawling into your own bed after being away for a few weeks is one of life's best frugal luxuries!

  4. Welcome home ! You really had a wonderful trip, full of love and beauty. As for housework, I personally love all the tasks other people hate : I looove ironing, as meticulously as possible, and enjoy doing the washing-up and ... cleaning the loo ! Did I hear you say weird ?? ... xxx

    1. Thank you Silver B, I am glad you also like housework - it shows a neat mind and a love of beauty. Why live in an unattractive environment? We can all be weird together xxx

  5. What a wonderful trip you had, with the highlight of the Baptism!
How great would it be, if you had your whole family closer.
So you were actually able to sleep in the airplane!
When traveling, shopping is definitely allowed. Liking your trench myself too.

    1. So true, Mette, it would be wonderful to have my grandchildren living closer. The Australian one is also far from us, and seen only occasionally. Have to admit, sleeping on the airplane is only possible for me up the pointy end! But for a 14 hours flight, we think it is justified. Travel shopping is good!

  6. It's all about the bed when flying to the other side of the world! I could not care less about the free drinks or the food, it is the comfortable sleep for me. I love the trench coat too. x

  8. Welcome home! But how clever of you that you posted while on vacation. What a delightful post about your trip and the little one. So glad you were able to visit and enjoy your family. Loving the dragonflies on the new top. I'm betting trench coat will be the best purchase you ever made.

  10. Welcome back, Patricia. How right you are. There really is no place like home with all its memories. You obviously had a wonderfully happy and interesting trip and I love the fact that you were there for an important family event.

PS I rather like ironing too, but still do as little as I can get away with. :-)

    1. Aha, another ironing fancier - the club is growing already! It really was the climax of the holiday to have the Christening and party the day before we set off for home. By then the baby knew us, and we were able to enjoy the preparations too.

  11. Think about it, fashion and style is directly linked in our culture with celebrity and fame.

It helps to think of a winter landscape that features cool blue snow
and a bright yellow sun. There is nothing wrong with these magazines and they are now available in
    sugar free versions.
