RANDOM BITS

I have just noticed my stats indicate I am about to reach 20,000 Pageviews.
It is just over two years since I went public with my blog, having no idea what would happen.
Now, I do receive my share of spam, just like the rest of you, and robots tend to visit, but I know there are many 'real people' too.
I love knowing you pop in from time to time, and even leave comments when I am lucky!

The lorikeets say Chiiiirrrrpppp!
Which means all is well, and we like the Red Cardinals (who feed us!)

Today I was singing with my chorale, The Choir for Ladies of a Certain Age.
I'm still in love with Mille Cherubini in Coro, and there were no guns drawn for indifferent tone!

I thought this dress was very pretty ...

and this:

Kate looked lovely at the National Gallery, in pale blue,
 revealing a dainty bump.
Apparently Spring has finally emerged in the northern hemisphere!

Last days on the throne for Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands.
On 30th April, she will step down in favour of her son, Willem-Alexander, who will ascend the throne.

I wonder how she will like retirement, after 33 years as Queen?

Spring flowers in my daughter's Canadian garden.... Sooooon!

Have a perfectly happy weekend.

Bonsoir!

  3. So pleased to have randomly come across you in the blogosphere - you brighten it up especially with all of your colourful little birds.
Well done on nearly two years - I sense that soon you will flying in the sky like the birds - I do not think that our Queen will be giving up the throne any day soon.

    1. Pleased to have found you too Rosemary. Packing....
I agree, the Queen has told us, she is not planning to retire, and her dedication continues to amaze me. Wonderful good health must help too. Notice that the grandchildren are increasingly helping with the royal duties, which is nice.

  4. Glad you're still enjoying blogging Patricia. I like the colour of Kate's dress, but I think you could have made her something that's a better fit because it looks a bit stiff.

    1. Sulky, you are right as always. I just saw Kate on TV wearing her next outfit, black spotted silk. Much better fit and flow in this dress.

  5. Congratulations on the page views!
And thank you for the exotic pictures too. Queen Beatrix did wisely to decide to " retire ".
Queen Elizabeth should do the same thing, imo. She is way over-time.
And you are soon on your way to Canada, great!

    1. Can't wait to see the next episode in Queen of the Netherlands. Maxima is a bit of a wild card, fashion-wise. Should be interesting!

  6. I too like a bit of randomness, Patricia, especially when it's so enjoyably illustrated. 20,000 page views is a real milestone and I'm glad I'm over here adding to them. :-)

    1. I'm glad you are adding to them too, Perpetua. I actually happened upon the magic 20,000 number on my dashboard last night. It felt a bit like seeing a shooting star - Very Random...

  7. Hello, Patricia ! No, Spring has not arrived except for the lovely Kate who is blooming as always.. Don't you just like the magic way her baby popped up all of a sudden; she hid it well until she could no more; well done, I say ! You know, even after all these photos you show us, I still can't get over those lorikeets; I am totally jealous of you for enjoying their bright colours all the time. Enjoy your packing !xxx

    1. No Spring yet? Not good! Yes, I thought Kate's sudden bump was cute; we saw her on TV a few days ago and even Mr C agreed, the Baby has Popped Up! My lorikeets send their best wishes...xxx

  8. Hello Patricia
LOve your lorikeets - would you believe I have a few in my garden in Auckland? I've tried and tried to get a photo from the upstairs window but they always catch me out of the corner of their eyes and fly off helter skelter deep into the branches of the huge Totara tree in our back garden!!
I hear them chattering away to each other - they are a noisy lot!!
I'm an avid royal watcher too!

I’ve emailed you separately following your exciting news in the comment you left on my blog today!

    1. Really Shane? Lorikeets in Auckland? Who would have thought.. The secret to a photo is simple: buy a bag of pumpkin seeds, add to a birdfeeder which they can access while having a nearby perch or tree to escape to, which would be the Totara tree. They are so greedy they will come and feed and you can click away. Off to look at your email now :) xx

  9. Random is fun. I can't get over those pretty Lorikeets just living in the wild like that. We have birds with color but not really colorful birds.

Have you packed for your trip yet? Some folks pack way ahead of time, some are last minute packers. I think ahead but pack last minute.

    1. Ah, but you do have red cardinals!
Not packed yet, but like you do a lot of thinking. I am at the stage of little piles of this and that which must go in, and still working on the wardrobe options.
I saw lots of good packing advice on Faux Fuchsia's blog!
