KIDS AND ANIMALS

Introducing the Petite Garcon, pictured this weekend wearing the pyjamas which I recently made.
He is absorbed in his new toy kitchen, found for $15 at a second-hand shop -
my daughter is brilliant at hunting out a bargain.

In just about one month, he will be coming with his parents to visit us in Australia.  Woo Hoo!  We are very excited.
He will have his first long plane journey, right across Canada to Vancouver,
then over the Pacific to Sydney, then Brisbane.
As he loves big machines and engines of any kind, I am sure the experience will be one of great excitement to the little man...

It will be fun introducing him to some of the local wild life, like this pair of cockatoos who visited over the weekend.

A trip to the local zoo to see koalas and kangaroos will be an essential.

We have to introduce him to that great old Queensland tradition,
a must for all children,
the Koala Photo Opportunity!!

This was mine, back in the Olden Days...
Why the lack of joy, you may ask?
Well, koalas can have sharp claws and it was Hurting My Arm.
I was Not Impressed - quite the sourpuss wasn't I?
Perhaps these days they file them off a bit??

Have a good week!

xx

  2. Woo hoo indeed Patricia and before you know it your little grandson will be on your doorstep. Very exciting!
The long plane trip reminds me of the time we flew with number 1 child to the States when he was 22 months old. We laugh about it now but....hooley dooley, need I say more LoL !

    1. Spoiling the little ones is my game! Lots of birds come to visit us, not all of which even make it to the blog. I think the sunflower seeds might have something to do with it. The cockatoos actually try to talk to us, and are quite tame tho flying wild.
Enjoy your lovely 4 grandchildren - such a delight for you. Best wishes, xx

  4. You lucky one! I bet you are counting the days..How long will the visit be?
The pajamas are just perfect for your grandchild, a good thing that he gets used to the kitchen at his young age; )
You have all the cutest animals over there, wish I could see them in real life too.
Were you born in Australia? Such a lovely picture of you.

    1. Yes, born in Australia Mette and lived in the country as a child. The family visit is for 14 days, the equivalent of their annual leave in Canada. We will treasure every day!

  5. I love all your pictures today. The little one in his jammies at the stove: so cute. And perhaps he will become hooked on cooking and grow up to become a great chef (what a wonderful HB he will make some lucky girl). Well, I really envy having cockatoos and parrots as visitors to your backyard feeders! Nothing is cuter than a koala!! And what a cute young girl with a koala! Have a great day and a wonderful visit with family!

    1. The little guy is already hooked on cooking; he really loves stirring the mixing bowl making muffins and cookies. And he is handsome too! We enjoy having the wildlife around us; in our last house koalas came occasionally and sat in trees by our fence. That was fun!

  6. You did a great job making PJ's that fit your grandson when he lives so far away. I'll bet you are so excited to have him and his parents visit. The picture of young you holding the Koala is so funny! You can see his big claws digging into your little arm, so of course you're crabby.
    Have a fun visit!

    1. On a roll with the pyjamas, Beryl. Just starting another pair for Little Aussie, our other grandson. Size 3, no fitting involved!
I think the koala photo is funny, too!

  7. What gorgeous pjs - PG has a v. clever grandma! I bet you are going mad with excitement at the prospect of his visit - as you say, the flights are long, but I'm sure he'll be just fine! Seeing him with his kitchen (my daughter had one of those - she loved it) I think you should make him a chef's outfit - you could have the next Gordon Ramsay there!

I adore that pic of you with the Koala, its brilliant! xxx

  8. Thanks, Mrs E, very proud grandma here! mmm, a chef's outfit - I'll look into that. He is quite the little cook.
I can still remember the day of the koala pic - other little girls smile charmingly, but I let it all show in the face!

    1. The cockatoos, and more of their friends, certainly have been in our garden this week. I think we are their current hang-out of choice!!
It is a bit odd at times, as we are only 20 minutes from the city centre!
